Format completelety deletes the data on the specified disk partition. So it must have solved your problem. So persistent not to change the battery. It's a small and easy to buy thing. Also replaced easily. Please buy a proper battery for motherboard and try with the new batt.

Do as Darren says. Unplug alla parts on Mother board, and also the RAm modules. Then try opening the computer with a ram module at a time. Then do the same thing for other attached devices to your motherboard.

The problem may be with the controller of keyboards PS/2 jack. Did you give a USB keyboard try?

Try this one. Just unplug the 3.5" diskette Drives power and data cable when Comp is not working, then enter bios and chose Halt on no errors at main screen then save&exit bios. Try rebooting.
