Hello. I have a question:

I have a portable harddisc, with files on it. Now I want to encrypt a certain folder on it. It contains a couple of files which take some megs.

What's the best way to do this?

I would just download VeraCrypt Portable (free) rather than write something from scratch.

Nod to Reverend Jim but want to note it's pretty awful how many people encrypt the only copies of files/folders they have without backups in the clear elsewhere. There are plenty of discussions where the (former) file owner melts down over the losses.
