Okay, i'm setting up this new vbulletin software on my server, Mysql 4.1 Is installed and the databases are created as instructed in the instillation documentation... But after step one i gets this

Warning: mysql_errno(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\vb\upload\includes\db_mysql.php on line 140

The database has failed to connect because you do not have permission to connect to the server. Please confirm the values entered in the 'includes/config.php' file.

Now i’m setting this up on my own server, The config file matches the database status all the way.. I’m using ISS v 5.1; can there be a possible permission issue with this?

I have a unix box, not sure if it is different than windows ~

When you create a database, you have to create a database permission for the database user. Maybe you have forgot to create that?

Also it is better to use a non-root user. If you are running in a shared environment and somebody have access to your config.php file, by using the password, he can wipe out all the databases on your server.

I trashed that old verson of vbulletin. I got sold a bogus copy, i now have a good one that has no problems. People who don't have good computer knowlege should be warned

Alright guys thanks for your help. No really thank you, i have it all undercontrol now. You guys are so helpful, it took me hours to sort out all the feed back you guys gave me.. thanks!! :-|
