I'm looking for an alternative to MS Access but don't want to download an entire package e.g. OpenOffice or LibreOffice. Is it possible to do a custom install of either for just Base and not the other pieces?

I'm going with no. As in, not currently packaged like that. Since there is source you could make such a project but when folk ask this I have to think they want it like fast food. Ready to eat.
