Hi, I would like to install SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition in my PC having Vista OS. Pl explain me the step by step process to
install SQL as both Server & Client.
Not having done such a thing, I can only guess from what I have read from other posts.
You will need to run the install as admin (right click run as). Then if you are able to get it to install, install everything.
However if you are not able to get it to install successfully, then I would suggest 2005 or 2008 express editions...
You can only install client mode of SQL Server 2000, in Windows Vista.
If you want to install Server mode. Then Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2003 Server is required..
I think same as vishalgupta9x .
MSDE is a scaled down version of SQL200 and that doesnt run on vista at all, so i doubt it will work. MS dont officuially support anyt version of MySQL prior to 2005 any more, let alone on vista (in fact i dont think MS ever formally supported running MSSQL Ent. on client desktop systems anyway)
If possible, try MSSQL 2005 or 2008 (if you dont want to spend money and its only a dev box (which im guessing it is, seeing as its Vista and not Windows Server) then Express Edition would probably be fine.
