well... the predicament i am in here seems simple.. but i cant seem to get my head around it, and YES its for a school project, but its just a part i cant work out

the thing is, i'm trying to read a line from a file and store it into an array of chars that is just large enough to fit the line, no extra elements in it.

yeah... help me out here, i got it to work when the array didnt need to be sized exactly, but then i hit this pothole while making the transition...

I recommend looking into ifstream. Once you do that if you still have problems post the code of what you've tried here and we'll see if we can help you figure out what is wrong.
