i'm wondering how to use a function named timer(); while executing another function at the same time??? can anyone help me with this?? i researched about threading but it's too complicated for me

i've got this project similar to a text twist game. and i've already got a simple timer program and a program that twists the letters and i'm planning to combine them so that they would work simultaneously, but the problem is that i don't know how to do that...
