This is not hwork. Trying to teach myself.
I have to write a script that counts number of text, data, and html and C files in my home directory. I have to use case and loop. I have to display the total number for each file-type and also a count of unmatched files

You didn't say what language it is...
This should really be in your manual though, as it's pretty basic stuff. Otherwise, I'd recommend finding a better one ;)
