Jumping into Php

Hello friends

i hope u all will be fine...am also enjoying the blessings of Life...

Dears i am from Pakistan (Asia) and an IT Student.....i love to develope Web Site but hasnt any professional experience so i want to learn Php so that i may do something dynamically and i want to learn Php from basic as i havent any experience with Database but have a little experience with HTML and Javascript.....

please help me in this regards that from where and how should i start....

Start with installation: PHP, MySQL, Apache/IIS and OS like Windows 2000, 2003 or Linux (Fedora Core). Internet (dial-up) also is obviously required. A coding tool like Homesite+ or Notepad++ is also a need. After installation, read PHP artcles, tutorials, PDF books. Read/download official AMP documentation. Try examples. Small ones. It's a process. It's a journey. However, PHP is much more easy than other languages. Except that, beginners find difficulty in configuring their local server.

If you're lonely, it'll take much more time thn if you've seniors and guides with you.

Sir i am really very serious in learning PHP and can suffer much for it.....i am using WINDOWS XP and has Dialup connection.....also got editing tools....now tell me from where i can get Apache server and i have IIS...plz tell me how i can configure PHP using IIS as i heard that Apache is must for it...

i will be thankful if you cud give ur precious time to me for teaching PHP.....

Hi,

My suggestion is to leave Windows XP. It is not quite a OS for developers. It is clearly metioned in Apache, PHP, MySQL docs to install and use these. If not all, most Web tutorials, you see on Web, are good or bad derivations from their Web sites. Hence, I suggest, you go to Apache, MySQL, PHP Web sites and refer there. Reading these bulky manuals are a bit difficult but still a fun. (You can download these easily, as a Windows CHM format also.)

I also suggest, use Apache lieu IIS. If you could move to Linux, it is better, else use Windows 2000 or Windows 2003. Please revert, once your installation is working.

hmm Thanks bro.....
i used XP because i am used to with it anyhow let me install window 2000.....i may also consult the sites u mentioned....but i think rather reading those bulky Tutorials one teacher is best enough and can make u a pro in less time......wat do u say....also many of those tutorials are for those who already knows PHP and i am just a beginner in DATABASE driven languages....

I agree. In fact, live job experience, senior team members can take you high ..extremely high. However, I'd also same unfortunate who tried lonely ..!

yeah i am doing BS(cs) and in 5th Semester.....i just need a path to work on with the help on initial stage....i am trying now to work on it and will contact u as much time as i need......
