Hi all, I'm a very early user of Daniweb, and after a long break, and I'm hoping to participate a bit more in this forum again. I'm here specifically for some advice before starting a new project of mine. I'm an experienced C++ / Win32 developer, but seem to be having trouble coming up with a good way of encoding AVI videos, or animated GIFs (or both!), in such a way that they will be quick to load and watch on my website. I don't really care about the final video output type, as long as I can upload them …

Hi I have been trying to get a google map on one of my websites. In the past I had no trouble. But now having forgotten what I did I googled the topic and found an explanation that required adding javascript to the head section and a div with map-canvas in it. After checking and correcting some typos. I found it didn't work and read somewhere that the installation requires a key. I went to Google and got a key after setting the API to On. But don't know how to enter it. just pasting it after .../js as .../js?key= …

Does anybody know where I can find a c++ object oriented library for my c++ project where in short I can set each pixel on each frame to a specified color and saving the result to a .avi file preferably compressed. I know this sounds simple in theory but I have googled not just for avi but for many codecs and found nothing. Anybody with greater knowledge know where I can find such a library?

I'm just an average joe trying to convert my DVD movies into a smaller single file to store and watch on my HTPC. I have Win 7 on it and like to use WMC to pull up and watch my movies. My delima is that I've tried several different converters and it seems the video quality is poor compared to leaving it in a vob file format. I've downloaded video on line that has been converted to other formats as well as greatly reduced in size that is still good quality. I don't expect great quality after a huge reduction …

I'm trying to create a Desktop Recording Application. When I record the full screen, the program works as it is supposed to, but in some cases when I select a specific region from the desktop to record I get an error at: `int result = AVIStreamSetFormat(psCompress, 0, ref bi, (Int32)bi.biSize);` `Error in VideoStreamSetFormat: -2147205016` I'm using Xvid MPEG-4 Codec to create AVI video. I think the problem might me that Xvid MPEG-4 Codec does not accept certaint image sizes (width and height). I'm not sure and stuck on this problem and I'm asking if somebody can help me understand why …

I'm looking for a lightweight audio/video converter that can at least handle an .avi to .iso conversion. I'd like a stand-alone product that doesn't require a full installation (preferable but not a requirement). Anyone have any suggestions? I don't need a feature-rich app just something to handle the above stated issue. Thanks.

Hi all. I have a requirement to collect a bitmap image directly from a given AVI file. Does anyone know of any decent .Net only libraries that by any chance can achieve this? I would like to avoid any COM interops if possible but if you have had experience using any in a .Net environment which worked well I am open to suggestion. I have given DirectShow a go and while it works, it seems pretty cumbersome to for what I am trying to achieve. Thanks

Hello, I have downloaded several avi files which I want to convert to WMV, however the sound will only play in Windows Media Player. When I try to open them with Windows Movie Maker, or any other player or converter, no sound is played (but the video is fine). I have analysed them with GSpot and it says that the audio codec is 0x0161 (WMV); 48,000Hz 160kB/s (2 channels). I have other AVI files which do have sound that plays in other players. GSpot says their audio codec is 0x0055 MPEG-1 Layer 3. If anyone can tell me how to …

Product Review Air Video 2.2.4

InMethod has come out with a utility that if properly handled, could be the future of personal media. Right now, there are still some things they could do better, but their current iPhone/iPad apps allow you to play any number of media formats on a device that would otherwise be limited to a very specific few. On top of that, it allows you to stream files from a centralized location, such as a media center PC, on to your mobile device.
