Is java a platform Independent language. I think its no? My question is in what respect java is totally platform dependent. Is there any case? Share with Us. I have seen this question. So please reply quickly. Java is probably one of object oriented programming. Does it purely object oriented programming?

Hi there, I'm reading a book on Javascript and trying to understand a few concepts that are about hasOwnProperty(), propertyIsEnumerable() and isPrototypeOf(). I don't understand when and how these methods are used. That would so appreciated if someone can explain them to me in a nutshell. This example is from the same book: var o = {}; // how do we read the line below ????? Object.prototype.isPrototypeOf(o); // true: o.constructor == Object Object.isPrototypeOf(o); //false o.isPrototypeOf(Object.isPrototypeOf); // false Function.prototype.isPrototypeOf(Object); //true: Object.constructor == Function

Hello all, Recently, I began learning JS to start creating websites. So far I have a working idea of what the DOM is & how to access elements within a document. I've also heard how jQuery & jQuery UI can increase functionality/productivity/interactivity & just about any other "ity" word you can think of. So, now I'm experimenting with these two libraries by trying to create tabs. From the docs I've read it appears that my code agrees with everything as explained. The problem I'm having seems more technical than conceptual. **I can't get the tabs to display in the page. …

Day 1 of the Intel Developer Forum kicked off with some cool announcements from Intel's CEO, Paul Otellini and EVP/General Manager, David Permutter.First off Otellini went into some numbers, stating that Gartner estimates each day 1 million PCs are shipped.Next he reminded us that Moore's Law still lives strong and that Intel is on the way to a 22nm (nanometer) manufacturing process. He also explained (but not in great detail) that Intel's recent acquisition of McAfee will be integrated with vPro technology to create a truly secure, "trusted" software/hardware relationship. He went on to mention some additional recent acquisitions and explained that …

Every August, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) holds a two-day symposium known as Hot Chips on the campus of Stanford University. If you've ever walked around the Stanford campus in August, you'd know how appropriate that term is. It's a gathering of some very smart people with very heavy accents, talking several levels above most people's understanding of microprocessor technology. After all, many of the presenters hold doctorates in electrical engineering and computer science. The show tends to be a who's-who in the chip field, and this year's show was no exception: Intel (NASDAQ: INTC), AMD (NYSE: …

With the release yesterday of Intel's Core series of high-performance, power-efficient processors, makers of space-constrained, mobile and other embedded devices now have a new low-cost option for their designs. The multi-core CPUs, dubbed Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7, incorporate Intel's Hyper Threading technology for fast program execution, a DDR3 memory controller and high definition graphics processor. About 200 embedded designs based on the new parts are reportedly available or soon will be. "These processors will enable more powerful high performance computers in the embedded space," said Eric Heikkila, director of embedded hardware and systems at VDC Research Group. …

Intel tomorrow will officially unveil a pair of dual-core mobile processors with its Hyper threading technology, adding to its x86 line a low cost chip with performance akin to that of the company's i7, Pentium 4 and Xeon parts. The Core i3 and Core i5 processors, demonstrated by Hewlett-Packard and others at CES 2010 in Las Vegas through Sunday, also incorporate graphics functions on board, saving power and cost by eliminating the need for a separate graphics package. In a benchmark report published yesterday, the two-core i5 661 processor outperformed a quad-core Athlon II 640 running at 3GHz.With on-board graphics …

Without further ado, Apple has added a new build-to-order option to their Mac Pro that allows 2 Quad Xeon processors instead of the previous 1, promised to run at 3 Ghz, and making the Mac Pro the first 8-core Mac. The upgrade doesn't seem like a huge one, as all they're doing is putting 2 processors on the motherboard instead of 1. This will definitely be interesting to see how well this is accepted into the professional world of computing. Previously, many professionals had held back upgrading to the newest Intel-based Mac Pros because much of the core software they …

Intel's finally received the kick-in-the-pants from its rival AMD, and, trying to kick that reputation of having hot chips has decided to revamp its server quad-core Xeon chips. The new chips, which have started shipping, use a mere 50 watts of power. It also has a 60 percent reduction from the previous generation of Xeon chips. So how does this stack up with AMD? Well, Intel is ahead, which is probably why they released this now. Anyhow, AMD has only 68 watts, so AMD's got an 18 wattage reduction challenge set for them now... So how low can these chip-makers …

While Intel had announced awhile back that they would be making a Core 2 Duo chip AMD said they were already working on a Quad-core. Then more recently Intel announced that they would be making a Quad-core chipset as well this year so whats the difference. Well they both are planning to release the same kind of chip but mid 2007 AMD will launch a faster chip with a different design. Both chips proposed to come out later this year will feature 2 dual core chips packaged together. Then the AMD coming out later will feature 4 unique chips on …

So if you were waiting around to buy a core 2 duo or an amd 64 X-2 than you will be waisting your money. This is becuase by the time youve had your new processor for a couple of months it will be completley obsolete. So far the reviews about the core 2 duo have shown nothing but the best. Fedora Core 5, the next version of software based on RedHat Linux of long ago, was released in Mid-March to the masses. I am sure that others have looked at the alpha and beta releases -- I waited until the the official release before looking at the software. Initial reactions: I love it. My hardware, for those to compare, is an AMD Athalon 1.2 GHz computer with 756 MB of RAM or so, ample hard drive space, and an ATI Rage Pro 128 video card. Actually, it is an ATI All-in-wonder TV card, with Rage 128 video horsepower, but the …

The appearance, in some online store catalogues, of the dual-core Athlon X2 3800+ processor marks a welcome new entry to the processor battles. Although not yet officially announced, the X2 3800+ is expected to have a clockspeed of 2.0Ghz and to have 2x512Kb level 2 cache. Expect it to retail for around $US350, which is about 60% of the cost of the previous low end Athlon64 X2. With performance which exceeeds that of comparable Pentium dual-core processors, the Athlon64 X2 series has also been priced more highly. Expect to see some serious competition ahead for the entry level Pentium D …
