Ok this may be alot to take it at first, but stay with it... I am head of IT at a community centre, and i want to set up DHCP role on a Windows server 2008 32bit Server. The server currently has 1 static ip, and gets it's internet from a standard router, and lets say that is adapter 1. I have installed another network card in it, which i intend to provide and connection for all the client PC's, which are running off a switch. The DHCP going from adapter 2 i want to have a different subnet. So …

Hi all, I have a little server in my office network with Windows Server 2008. I have assigned it manually the IP: 192.168.1.100, but randomly after a restart, a strange IP was assigned (something like 169.*.*.*) then the server is cutted from the network and I have to disable/enable the network to get the correct IP. Why this happens? I *manually* assigned IP just for avoiding this problem, but it is still there. Every solution is accepted, also a workaround! Thank you a lot for your help!

A friend of mine enlisted my help to upgrade his network form a workgroup to a domain, so I did. I'm give you the technical setup and explain the issue at the bottom. 1 Sonicwall tz100 with static IP and cable connection (runs DHCP and DNS, servers IP is listed ad a DNS source among those provided by the ISP, I did this so the internal PC's can resolve computer names {is that correct?}) 1 Cisco Small Business 48 port Switch 15 workstations 1 server with 08 Standard installed (file server only) All PC's have DHCP enabled My buddy didnt …

I am trying to setup a test environment for our newly developed system. My boss wants me to setup SBS 2003 server with DHCP service behind the router with pre-exisitng servers which one of them host DHCP. New SBS2003 server has two NIC cards so I was wondering if I can have one NIC (NIC1) card connect to preexisting network and obtain ip from router and have the other NIC (NIC2) to connect to clients via switch and host DHCP service to the clients. I know SBS2003 is an old OS but I really need your help. Thank you

Hi folks, I'm working on a PXE server application as part of a toolchain that I'm going to use to develop an OS. At the moment, I'm concentrating on the DHCP part, then I'll look at the TFTP part later on. Now, I'm aware that a DHCP uses UDP to communicate with a client, and UDP sends data in a rather 'ad-hoc' manner, making its reliability minimal. Now, I want to develop a class in C# that can construct/decipher DHCP packets and send/receive these packets, using the Socket class to do all the communication. Now being as UDP is an …

Hi guys, I have a server running Asterisk that does not have wireless, and I don't have easy access to my router (it's in my roommate's bedroom). I successfully configured a DHCP server on my netbook, which could give my server Internet access (which I think would make it a gateway). Now I have two questions: 1. How can I access this server from another computer in the network? 2. If I forward port 80 and 22 on my router and try to log in from outside the network, will I be able to reach the server by my external …
