Up until 5 days ago Outlook 2011 on my iMac was working fine -but now it recieves emails but I cannot send them - all it does is save them as drafts. I have it setup so it receives and sends from my (imap) gmail account (as I said it was fine until a few days ago). *I changed nothing - no reason to. So searching the web produced a lot of "change the settings to this or that" but none of those remedies worked. Has this happened to anyone, is there a fix for this? or does anyone know …

We have developed an app for iPhone. Our business requirement is to run the app at the background and listen to our server for the updates. We need to get the list of online users. This helps us in getting the list of online users and also in listenning to the server. Problem: iOS is killing the app after few minutes. I need the app to run at the background for ever. This is a proven concept and used by lots of apps on apple store. Please suggest me how to achieve this. If we use Background audio then the …

I am going to sell my old Mac Mini and i need to erase all the data stored on the drive. I heard that a factory reset is not secure enough. The data recovery software can still access the data on the drive. Is worth to a buy third-party app to wipe the drive?

This may seem absurd at first but please read on. Recently I've heard that a lot of people are installing Mac on standard machines made for Windows - either using hardware Virtualization or using some kind of tweak with their BIOS. I also heard that Apple recently switched their working Archetecture to Intel processor making it easy to install their OS X on Windows machines. Earlier last month a friend of mine also tried installing OS X on his Windows machine. No, he did not use VMWare or any emulator, he actually installed in on his HDD with a bootloader …

Everytime I link a `webview` into my OS X project, it always brings up `Use of undeclared type 'WebView'`. How am I supposed to fix this? I've tried linking the WebKit framework and things like that, but they never worked.

I am sitting in front of a brandnew 27 inch Apple Macintosh running on OS X Yosemite, trying to compile a timed insertion sort from my Windows days. The Xcode app is a sweatheart, but there are some Windows things in the code that cause a problem. This line ... `#include <windows.h> // GetTickCount()` does not work of course. Does anyone know what I can use instead of windows.h and function GetTickCount()?

As any fan of the The Matrix trilogy of films will tell you, the Keymaker is a character in The Matrix Reloaded who has the keys to provide Neo access to the system mainframe and by so doing hopefully save Zion from the ongoing sentinel attack. In the movie, the Keymaker was a little old Chinese man who held the keys to every door, every escape route, everything. In Apple OS X the equivalent is the Gatekeeper, a key technology which prevents malware from running on machines using that operating system. It does this by effectively locking the doors to …

Hi, I'm running a mid/late 2007 Macbook Pro with Mavericks: [Click Here](http://everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/specs/macbook-pro-core-2-duo-2.4-15-santa-rosa-specs.html) When I connect a second display the cpu temp goes through the roof, 90C with the fans at max. When I disconnect the screen the temperature comes down. Temperature Monitor shows that it's the CPU's not the GPU that are getting hot. I've looked in Activity Monitor and there's nothing taking up a large amount of CPU that would seem to be causing this. I've cleaned out the Mac in the last 5 months so I doubt it's a dust build up problem. Any help would be greatly …

I want to make a Cocoa applictation using all code in Xcode, not using the Interface Builder. I have searched a lot on this and have not found anything since most people want to use the Interface Builder. Please don't say anything like "Don't waist your time on it", "They did the work for you, why do it yourself?", etc., like most people. When I make applications, I like to use all code. So, can you explain how to do this or post a link? Thank you very much for your help! I had this in C++, which was the …

We are making the switch to iMacs later this year but to improve employee productivity and enforce access policies we need to find a "business class" internet filter for our new iMacs. I can always configure our network to block the sites but this is primitive as it doesn't filter HTTPS sites. I'd like to keep the price of this to under the $150 range to allow for either a hardware purchase or a software purchase but not both. The only program I'm aware of is SafeEyes but that charges a yearly fee and we are really only looking to …

I would like to run older versions of OSX on my Mac Mini. Apple dropped support for Classic Mode and for PowerPC code, which broke SoundDiver, an important tool in my home music studio. All I've been able to dig up so far about OSX virtualization is that it used to require OSX Server but won't with OSX 10.7 Lion. SoundDiver 3.x still works just fine with Windows XP. It stinks that Apple discontinued it for OSX after treating it like an unwanted stepchild for years.

The Flashback Trojan has infected at least 600,000 Apple computers running Mac OS X according to the Russian AV company [Dr Web](http://www.drweb.com/?lng=en) which researched the spread of the malware which was originally discovered at the end of last year and for which Apple issued a security patch just this week. You can determine if your Mac is one of the machines infected by the Flashback Trojan, which disguises itself as an Adobe Flash Player installer, by running the AppleScripts provided by Mashable in response to the Dr Web discovery and available for [download here](http://mashable.com/2012/04/05/mac-flashback-trojan-check/) Alternatively, you can run the following …

None of the other "can't find mouse" descriptions apply to my problem. After using SnowLeopard on a Mac Mini for 1.5 years, twice now I've found my computer turned off after leaving it on overnight. Ok, that could be a power glitch. No one else touches this computer, so that isn't something to investigate either. The problem occurred - on two occasions now - when I turned the computer back on -"No mouse connected -.Looking for a wireless mouse or trackpad" Wha? I'm using an Apple mouse connected to my keyboard, just the combination I bought at the Apple Store. …

The New York Times reported today that Apple has opened its first Apple Store in Paris, underneath the Louvre no less, and just two weeks after Microsoft opened up a Windows 7 cafe in Paris in another location. Hi! I'm using Snow Leo with iMac, and it's continuously getting slower and slower to startup. It's 35 sec (without weird HDD) at fresh install or after clearing PRAM. After 3 days now it's 50-60 sec. Last time before I've found out the PRAM trick, it was 90-120 sec. Also there is a weird HDD scrawling at startup I don't know what. The 1st time refers to the desktop showing up with the menus, and the 2nd time is the actual startup finish, when the HDD stops scrawling, and finally I can open a google page. Also when I clear …
