Well i downloaded the tar.bz2 package but when i try to compile it, it always need a new software to get installed(software dependences), like flex, gcc, bison etc. Now i am frustrated with these installations. so, is there any other method to install wine like to get a .deb file(am not able to find a .deb file for wine), or something pre-compiled which installs fine. I don't have internet connection on ubuntu. plz send me the link to .deb file or something like that or any method through which i can install wine on my ubuntu... Thanks ;)

I have installed a Corsair F60 SSD on my Ubuntu 12.04 desktop. It has earlier been used as a system disk with Windows 8 Pro on another system, but it failed and now I want to use it for other purposes. If I use 'hdparm' I get an input/output-error, so I decided to try the Corsair SSD Toolbox which (unfortunately) is a Windows-program. So I installed the program using Wine, and tried to detect my Corsair F60 SSD to see if it was possible to rescue the drive. But when I run the program using Wine it does not detect …

Hi All, THis is just a basic question about Wine. How many use it on Linux and how many are happy with it? I've seen mixed reviews about Wine on the internets so I thought I would ask the only tech community that matters. I just installed it because I was going to try and install (and run) Photoshop Elements on my laptop and I need Wine to do that. I also have a program called Fruity Loops that is a Windows based program that I'm hoping will run after Wine is installed but I don't know if it will …

I downloaded the latest WINE and I know it works because I downloaded two windows only compatible programs and they work. But now I'm trying to download and execute the .exe file for an awesome online game. It executes the file and a window pops up with the agreement terms. After I agree and hit next, a loader window appears but nothing loads. Thanks in advance.

Let me explain the scenario I'm in. Currently my company has a desktop set up so clients can individually log in and test our data processing software. This is currently in a linux environment for ease of management. What I'm looking to do is possibly set up a web app with will show the gui/output of the software while processing and keeping all the libraries server side. Similar to what would happen if you were to ssh -X into the machine and run the software on your display. The software package is written in c++ and is a windows exe. …

I'm trying to find some VM software that can access more than 256mb of the video card. Parallels tops out at 256mb. It won't let you access more than that. The machine I intend to run this on will be an 8core mac pro workstation desktop with 8gigs of RAM or more and a terabyte HD. This will be for doing 3d rendering, not to create images, but to create models that I can send to a 3d printer or CNC mill. The problem is I already own the 3d rendering software and it is for Windows, and I am …

AUGUST 7, 2008--There was much to celebrate at the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo this week in San Francisco's Moscone Center, particularly if you're a developer building applications on or for the platform. Codeweavers has released a final version of CrossOver Office 6 - the software that provides Windows-application compatilibity - to both Linux and Mac OS X, marking the first-ever release of CrossOver Office for Mac. CrossOver Office is built upon the open source Wine framework, but provides additional features, such as an easy-to-use interface, and increased support of Windows applications. Although previous support for Windows games was provided by Apple's Boot Camp or Parallels Workstation, both required you to own a license of Windows XP, and in the case of the former required rebooting, and in the latter required a virtual …
