One of the main problems with the way things are ran in the states is the fact that people in power cannot say what the hell they are trying to say. He should have just said, "Ok, Ok, your right, you must pay your taxes or else!" But that is the problem......they tend to think that we actually listen to all the crap they babble about, and just figure that we accept it.

For the benefit of non-Americans, Senator Harry Reed (in the interview) is just flat wrong -- our taxaction is NOT voluntary and people have served prison time for not paying taxes. We can not tell our employers not to deduct taxes from our salary, nor can employers decide not to withhold them. Its only optional for companies that make less than some amount of money. Then at the end of every year we are REQUIRED to file income tax forms to calculate the amount of taxes owned for the year and either pay what we still owe or get a refund for paying too much during the year.

Is that intended to be a sarcastic comment rooted on the old folkloric envy for the rich, or do you really believe that? Could you elaborate some more? How much an individual needs to obtain to fit your definition of rich? And finally, are you saying rich individuals don't pay taxes in this country?
