Why does Acers have to be so annoying? I have a T650 desktop and it is nothing but trouble. Blue Screen Of Death machines, should have been called terminators.

I have a Aspire 5610 and it's awesome, though if i let the webcam run (the acer obicam) it BSOD randomly. hmmm.

Have you any thoughts as to why the Acer aspire T650 PC does not like to be re installed with XP? I have tried on a number og occasions and it still blue screens after I press the F8 key to install the XP OS.

I've never installed windows from a CD, i got a hidden partition and it does it that way. Maybe something wrong with the cd? or the drive isn't formated right?

I think its just a general discussion on Acer and he is not searching for a solution to his problem but rather a discussion on why there should be a problem in the first place. :P

I usually hear 2 different things when it comes to Acer machines and that is that they are really great or they are crap. I think that the laptops work really well however i think that the desktops have a few more problems. In my experience i have had nothing but problems when it comes to Acer desktop hardware however all the laptops that i have worked with have been great.

The main problem i have had with the Acer desktops is with the network cards. We have about 10 Acer machines all about a years old in our network and all of the network cards in them have stopped working.

I would say that your particular problem lies with either the recovery partition or another partition that you might have missed over and i would suggest erasing your entire hard drive before trying to install the new version of windows. Otherwise use the disks that came with the machine.

looks like searching for a solution to the problem to me lasher ;)

Life is too short to be messing/fugging round with a goofy ACER machine. There are plenty of cheap used computers out there from good companies that know what they are doing.

Acer Uses Phoenix BIOS and it have manual configuration of Harddisk controller settings. You may need to choose which type of Harddisk is installed...e.g. if its SATA then set the controller mode to SATA enhanced mode in BIOS Advanced settings.

Not to be rude or anything, but you bought an acer. I think if you step up your budget just a little, you may find a better computer without the nonsence. I have learned the lesson, "you get what you pay for" many times over.

Lol Which is why everyone should all go and buy Macs or custom build...

I bought an Acer a few years ago from Best Buy because it seemed to be a good idea at the time -- no screws that is. After I got it home, opened the case to add another card, I had a terrible time trying to get it put back together again. I kept that computer for about a year when I got so mad at it that I opened the back door and literally smashed it all over the concerte, along with the monitor :) I swore then that I would never ever buy another Acer, and swore to throw it at the first person who attempted to give me one.

Sounds like that would have made a brilliant youtube video.

haha, I think it woulda have lasher.

Btw, why does everyone think Acer is cheap? I've seen plenty expensive ones from them.

They aren't cheap. But they are crap -- there is a difference :) I hope the manufacturer doesn't sue me for saying that.

Maybe i should have quoted that.

Mister Dell thinks so.
