I'm working on a new site that was created with .css However, I'm just an html kinda guy. I haven't learned .css at this point. It does seem like a cleaner look as far as coding goes.
I have tried to update the meta tags and title for each page but I'm not sure if it's working. Can I add the html meta tags to .css pages? If anyone has any suggestions for optimizing .css to aid in search engine placement would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

CSS is meant to be used in conjunction with HTML. HTML pages are still going to be the pages that are accessed by the web browser and contain all of the content. CSS will just help you style the page differently - it's 100% aesthetics.
