Quick, practical update tied to the points raised by , and .

CS5 was mainly about workflow and toolchain improvements rather than a radical new web runtime. The release added a designer-to-developer path (Flash Catalyst) and a Packager that let ActionScript projects be turned into native iOS apps — useful for shipping apps, not for running the Flash browser plugin on iPhone. That focus explains why saw "not much else": the visible runtime for desktop browsers did not change as dramatically as the tooling around it (Adobe Flash Professional, Flash Catalyst).

Long-term context matters for anyone reading this years later: browser plugin Flash was officially retired by Adobe in 2020, so modern workflows are different. For legacy CS5 projects consider three paths: migrate assets/code to HTML5/Canvas or WebGL (manually or using toolkits), open and update FLAs in Adobe Animate (the product that replaced Flash Professional), or preserve playback with emulators. Practical starting points: the CreateJS toolkit for HTML5 export (CreateJS), the open-source Ruffle Flash emulator (Ruffle), and cross-platform engines like OpenFL if you need native ports (OpenFL). See Adobe's official Flash end-of-life statement for why migration is recommended (Adobe Flash Player EOL).

Doesn't really look like it offers much else. . . Well at least that is my opinion.

Wow that's a bummer, I thought the new flash offered more? There's gotta be some better demos out there, http://cs5.org/?p=869 - is the new Flash Catalyst worth it?

Cool! But the feature to support IPhone going to be lost, because of apple applied some more restrictions in their phone to utilize fullfedged flash support for Iphone, we will get that package? Adobe said to leave the efforts to utilize Iphone features in cs5.
