:?: some one please help me!
Ive just bought a new motherboard[MSI k8n NEO4-F] and i also purchased Amd AThlon 64 3000+ CPU and Also albatron GeForce 6600 w/ 256 mb ram. I also purchased a new 400 watt PS that had to have 24 pin connector in order to power up my mobo. Anyway everything was mathcing and it all turned on alright with no beeps or any problems. Oh and I also got 1 gig of DDR 400 ram. Well I installed Win Xp Pro and the screen seemed very uncolored but i figured it was beacuse XP didnt support the drivers. So the os installed without a problem and i installed new motherboard drivers and video drivers from nvidia.com but then all the icons are blank and the screen keeps blinking on anf off when i try to press on something and theres also pxiel dots on the monitor in random spaces. when i start up the computer the Win XP logo has lines on it that are white and the computers speed goes down dramatically. The Cpu temp is 33 degrees and the cpu has very minimum usability. please some one help me! I AM IN DIRE HELP! also i want to play WoW.

This thread describes intermittent display artifacts, blinking and big performance drops after a recent build/driver change. opened the thread and correctly flagged the graphics subsystem; later reported similar symptoms. A short, practical diagnostic order will quickly separate hardware failures from driver/software problems.
- Check whether artifacts appear before the operating system loads (POST/BIOS screen) or on the monitor OSD. If yes, it is almost certainly hardware (GPU, cable, slot or monitor).
- Boot without vendor video drivers (Safe Mode or a Linux live USB). If the problem disappears, focus on drivers/OS. If it stays, focus on hardware.
- Swap the video cable and monitor; try a different connector type (VGA/DVI/HDMI) if available. Cables and connectors fail more often than people expect.
- Reseat the card and memory, and ensure any GPU power leads are fully seated. Test the card in another system, or test a known-good card in this system to isolate the fault.
- Check the PSU: insufficient or unstable power will cause resets, artifacts and slowdowns. If possible, try a different known-good PSU.
- Run a memory test (memtest) to rule out RAM corruption—bad RAM can produce screen corruption too.
- Update motherboard chipset/BIOS only after isolating hardware; unstable BIOS settings can disguise themselves as video problems.
- If artifacts persist on POST and across different systems/cables, the GPU (VRAM or PCB components) is likely failing; RMA or replace rather than attempting board-level fixes unless experienced.
Typical interpretation: white lines and random pixels that show up before drivers load point to GPU or cabling/monitor faults; blinking and icon corruption that begins after drivers load more often points to driver conflicts or unstable power. Handle components with power removed and proper grounding; if under warranty, contact the vendor for RMA rather than attempting risky repairs.
