Os Duel boot Win7 home edition and ubuntu 10.04
My duel boot options are as follows
1 Ubuntu
2 Ubuntu safe mode
3 Vista (apparently a recovery mode)
3 Win 7
All worked well till I accidentally hit Vista instead of Win 7.
Ended up in a recovery screen asking to continue (no cancel choice)
I hit Alt F4 and picked shutdown over restart(no other options). Started up my comp and just got a blinking cursor in the top left of screen. No beeps or messages.
Now I believe it to be a corrupt boot file on the hdd? I had no recovery disk for the machine (I know). I tried the windows disk and used it to try and recover, restore and fix corrupt files to no avail. I also removed the drive and checked it on another machine for any corrupt files, found none.
It is not the bios because i could start the machine off a thumb drive with ubuntu but it would not recognize the hdd.Then I changed hard drives and installed ubuntu witch I am now posting this om my laptop.
Any help would be appreciated.
