Hey everyone,

I’m planning to build my first custom PC and would really appreciate some guidance. The goal is to have a setup that’s great for gaming and light content creation, without going completely overboard on the budget.

I’ve heard a lot about high-end GPUs like the RTX 4080, but I’m still figuring out if that’s the right fit for me or if something a bit more budget-conscious would do the trick.

Also, I’d love some tips on picking compatible parts, cooling solutions, and how to keep things future-proof. I’ve been browsing guides on Orange Hardware lately, and their content is super beginner-friendly. If anyone’s used their suggestions or has a build based on their recommendations, I’d love to hear how it went.

There's a long running site called PCMasterrace which has suggested builds. For those that can't afford to build what could be a dud, STEAL a design from there and you're good to go.

About future proof. I've been at this since the IBM 5150 and can write that such is a fool's errand.

Back in 2014, I paid roughly $10,000 for the most top-of-the-line Dell Workstation that you could get. The salesperson on the phone told me that NASA recently purchased nearly the same one. Last year, I shipped it off to DaniWeb's sysadmin because it isn't even capable of running Windows 11 and my Macbook Pro laptop is more performant.
