I really need some assistance. Nephew's computer was full of spyware..I have used spybot, ad-aware, trojanhunter, trend micro scan, and mcaffee scan. Found hijack files and removed along with numerous spyware and trojans, but have detected no viruses. I've checked all security settings and everything I can figure out in the system, but am not compter literate enough to know where to search next. Main problem is lack of ability to update from microsoft updates or to link to pages within a website. Am attaching Hijack This log. Please, any help much appreciated.

Thank you.

Try this:

Reboot into Safe Mode again

Go to Add/Remove Programs and try removing Admilli Service

Go to C:\Program Files and delete the Admilli Service folder

Still in Safe Mode, scan with HJT again and have it fix:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Admilli Service] C:\Program Files\Admilli Service\AdmilliServ.exe

Reboot normally, be sure all browser windows are closed, scan with HJT again, and post a new log

After browsing through many of your forums, I have found several people with the same problem. Unfortunately, no solutions seemed to work. I decided to just reinstall windows and get a fresh start, unless my xp disk might possibly repair the problems. As xp was preloaded when I bought the computer, I have only the reinstall disk. When inserted and install option chosen, I got a message that windows could not install because the version on my computer was more recent than the one on the disk. It gave no repair option, only cancel. How do I proceed and reload xp?

I don't think you should give up yet, the suggestions given worked in this thread:
http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/thread16951-Admilli+Service.html

But if it didn't work for you, there are other things that can be tried. Did you try uninstalling from Safe Mode? If you want to continue trying, please post a new HJT log.

If you would prefer to reinstall Windows, here are complete instructions:
http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/thread6632.html

No, I really don't want to give up easily, I'd rather learn more. I'm just frustrated with time and access issues. I wasn't able to boot into safe mode, but read another thread that explained how to use msconfig, and did that. It did remove admilli, but didn't solve any of my problems. Here is my new hjt logfile:

Thanks again.

Your log looks okay to me now, what problems are you still having?

Okay, I'll try to remember all the gory little details... (1) When I request windows update, I get a blank screen. If I follow search links to windows update, the page loads, but won't scan for updates. I then get a message bar saying an active x needs to download, but is not signed, therefore will not download. (2) Will open web pages but will not open most areas (pop-ups?) within the site. (3) Windows search gives me a blank page (except for the dumb little dog). (4) If I attempt to download from a website such as Download.com or C-net, the page does not display the "download" box to click to start the download. If I go to a secondary site, I am able to download, but get a message it doesn't have a signature either, and I have to tell it to download anyway. This lack of signature applies to Microsoft software, Adaware, Spybot, etc. At least, I do eventually get most software I need, just absolutely nothing on windows updates. Tonight, after removing the Admilli files in safemode, when I went back to regular mode, I lost my internet address bar. After rechecking the "address bar" and the "lock the toolbars", it never showed up, even after another restart. Just before sending my latest HJT log, I re-ran Adaware and removed over 100 entries, just since last night. BTW... when I tried to get updates for Adaware, I got an error message saying it couldn't connect. Don't know if that was the website down or if I have a problem in the program, but I couldn't get updates. Meanwhile, the computer is getting really slow. I'm tired! Thanks SO much for listening!

Go to Internet Options in IE and set your security settings to default.
Try running IEFIX.htm which will repair IE and run a System File Check.

Go here and download and run Silent Runners.vbs. It generates a log, please post the information back in this thread.
