I recently installed Mozilla Firefox as my browser because I was having too many problems with Iinternet Explorer spyware, pop-ups, and other nasties. A few days ago, I started getting lots of banner pop-ups credited to "searchingtool.com" with IE's moniker attached.

I've run Spybot, AdAware, and Microsoft's new Beta version of its antispyware program. I have not uninstalled IE because I ocassionally use it for features not available with Firefox (such as Windows Media Player and Yahoo! mail options).

Any other way to block these annoying pop-ups? They're all opening in IE and clogging up my system.

Download HijackThis selfextracting zip version from here. Once downloaded, double click on the file & it will install into it's own, permanent folder.
Start HJT & press the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. When the scan is finished a window will pop up giving you the option of where to save it. Save it to desktop where it is easy to access. Open the log file and copy the entire contents of the file & paste it into the body of your post. DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET. Most of what is there is necessary for the running of your system.
