You're pretty loaded down with infections, and I'm a bit surprised that Ad Aware and Spybot didn't clean some of them out.

A couple of things you need to take care of before continuing with HijackTHis:

1. C:\DOCUME~1\david\LOCALS~1\Temp\Temporary Directory 1 for hijackthis[1].zip\HijackThis.exe

The log entry above indicates that you are running HJT from within a Temp/Temporary folder. Please do the following:

Create a folder outside of any Temp/Temporary folders for HJT and move it there now. A folder such such as C:\HijackThis or C:\Spyware Tools\HijackThis will do.

One of the normal steps in eliminating malicious programs is to entirely delete the contents of all Temp folders. Given that, if HijackThis (and other data that you care about) is living in those Temp folders, it will be erased along with everything else!

2. C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

The log entry above indicates that you had at least 1 instance of Internet Explorer running when you ran HijackThis.
Before fixing problems with HijackThis, you must make sure to close/quit ALL instances of your web browser! HijackThis cannot fully perform its fixes while browsers are running.

3. Let's try to get some of the mess cleaned up before using HijackThis:

- Run at least two of the following free online anti-virus/anti-spyware scans and have them fix what they find:

http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus.html
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/
http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/default.asp?cid=9914
http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php

- Download and Run Microsoft Anti-Spyware beta.

- Download and run the free version of Ewido Security Suite.

4. Reboot into safe mode (you get to the safe mode boot option by hitting the F8 key as your computer is starting up)

- Open Windows Explorer, and in the Folder Options->View settings under the Tools menu, select "show hidden files and folders", and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extentions for known file types".

- For every user account listed under C:\Documents and Settings, delete the entire contents of these folders (but not the folders themselves):

Important: One of the normal steps in eliminating malicious programs is to entirely delete the contents of all Temp folders. Given that, if any data that you care about is living in those Temp folders, you need to move it to a safe location now, or it will be erased along with everything else!

1. Local Settings\Temp
2. Cookies
3. History
4. Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

- Delete the entire content of your C:\Windows\Temp folder.

Note- If you get any messages concerning the deletion of system files such as desktop.ini or index.dat, just choose to delete those files; they'll be automatically regenerated by Windows if needed. Windows will allow you to delete the versions of those files which exist in sub-folders within the main Temp/Temorary folders, but might not let you delete the versions of those files that exist in the main Temp folders themselves; this is normal and OK.

- Empty your Recycle Bin.

- Reboot normally.

5. Run HijackThis again and post a fresh log.

I have attempted the above and ran the house calls and the ravantivirus scan. The ravantivirus did not "fix" the problems.
I downloaded the Micosoft Anti-software and Ewindo Security Suite, which both had messages about isentifing threats.
Here is the latest log.

Sorry for the delayed response; the last couple of days have been really hectic.

The work you've done has cleaned thing up a lot; good job! :)

Now for the rest:

1. Uninstall Weatherbug, unless you are using the paid-for version. The free version is Adware, despite the company's statements to the contrary (the definition they choose to use for "adware" is actually the definition of "spyware").

2. Have HijackThis fix the following:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\svcmgr32.exe
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {FAA356E4-D317-42a6-AB41-A3021C6E7D52} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {339BB23F-A864-48C0-A59F-29EA915965EC} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows Service Manager] C:\WINDOWS\svcmgr32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [czazwt] C:\WINDOWS\czazwt.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Weather] C:\PROGRA~1\AWS\WEATHE~1\Weather.EXE 1
O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} - C:\PROGRA~1\AWS\WEATHE~1\Weather.exe (HKCU)
O15 - Trusted Zone: http://ny.contentmatch.net (HKLM)

3. Open Windows Explorer, and in the Folder Options->View settings under the Tools menu, select "show hidden files and folders", and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extentions for known file types".

- Locate and delete the following files:

C:\WINDOWS\svcmgr32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\czazwt.exe

- Delete the following folder entirely:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\AWS

4. The following log entry bothers me; do you have any idea what the .exe file is related to?:

O4 - Global Startup: Cpp1.exe

If not, please locate the file in Windows Explorer, right-click on it, choose Properties from the resulting popup menu. Post any info you find in the Properties window concerning the file's size, its creation & modification date, the company name associated with the file, etc.

5. Empty your Recycle Bin, reboot, run HJT again, and post a fresh log.

DMR,
Thanks for the update. I am on duty for the next two days and will not be home until Friday morning to fix this stuff. I have no idea what the Cpp1.exe program is. When it comes up the field looks like a DOS formatted error message. The field is black with white type, just like the an old DOS format. Window XP requests to send an error message to them.

Thanks again,
Firedad

I have no idea what the Cpp1.exe program is.

Cpp1.exe is a filename commonly used in C++ programming (Cpp= C Plus Plus).
Since it seems to throw you an error, and you don't know why it's there, have HJT fix this line as well:

O4 - Global Startup: Cpp1.exe

After that, locate and delete Cpp1.exe along with the other two files I listed in the instructions in my last post.

Get back to us after you've had a chance to do the clean up, and post a fresh HJT log at that time.

Here is the latest log after completing your instructions.
I was not able to find the file, C:\WINDOWS\czazwt.exe
I do not see it in this log.
Does Window recheck the Windows explorer Folder options or do I have need to do that?
Thanks
Firedad

DMR,
Do you know anything about AOL Instant Messaging? My daughter recieved the following hyperlink from someone and opened it. http://theharp.net/aol.com I have instructedhe not to do that AGAIN.:(
She now has this link attached somehow to here screen name. I deleted the AIM progam and then reinstalled it. The link is still there.
Any ideas?

1.

I was not able to find the file, C:\WINDOWS\czazwt.exe
I do not see it in this log.

The file may have been detected and deleted by ewido or MS AntiSpyware; I see no indication of it or any other suspicious, randomly-named files in your log. Just to be on the safe side though, recheck your Explorer View settings and have another look for the file.

2. You've picked up the Wild Tanget parasite. Open your Add/Remove Programs control panel and uninstall any WildTanget programs that you find there. After that:

- Have HJT fix:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WildTangent CDA] "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\GameDrvr.exe" /startup "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0500.dll"

- Delete the entire C:\Program Files\WildTangent folder.

- Empty your Recylcle Bin.

3. As to the AIM question- I don't have any ideas there, as I stopped using AIM a few years ago; too many people pestering me

DMR,
I removed the Wild Tangent form the Add/Remove Programs in control panel and then did not find it in this log. It should be gone.
As for the AIM problem, FYI I did a google search and found this site Jayloden.com who has a AIM Antivirus program. What I have is a AIM Virus that come to folks as a hyperlink to "Check this out".
I am attemptng to work the AIM problem out through this site.

On the up-side: your log is clean now; good work! :)

Thanks for all your help!!!
If anyone has a similar problem with AIM viruses send them to Jayloden.com. He has some clean up progams to run with AIM and added the virus we had to the program.
Keep up the good work

god bless
