i started up my computer recently and discovered a number of changes in which i did not change. First off there was a new spyware remover pogram call wareout that i did not install and also my internet explorer had a new search bar...but i cant rember what it was called. Anyway i got rid of these by using hijackthis and pocketkiller and this seemed to have worked. However after deleting these I could still not open norton antivirus nor update it. The only way I can open it is in safe mode. It seems to be still running in the back ground and it sometimes tells me that it has found the trojan hclean.exe and it cannot delete it. I then go to use pocket killer and the file is not there. I ran norton in safe mode and it turned up two trojans and deleted them and i figured that it had got rid of the trojan but when I booted up again in normal mode it still would not open. When i try to open it nothing happens and when I go to task manager i find that my processor is being 100% used by norton. I have sinced re installed it to no avail. So far i have scanned my computer with norton, tredmicro housecall, bitdefender online (which turned up about 5 trojans and deleted them), trojan remover (nothing found), adware SE and trojan hunter (this found 3 trojans and deleted them but i forgot to get there names). After all this I still cant open norton and other funny things are starting to happen. When I search in google and click on a link that is found i get sent to a different site each time and the site I go to is not what i selected. I also get a popup msg that tell me that windows fire wall has detected spyware activity and ask me if i wish to find out how to get rid of it. If I click yes I get directed to a site call free...scanner.com (cant remeber the exact name). Also gt i msg with a similar msg that comes up form where the time is located. I cant figure this out, i cant find anything that is running that would cause this nor can find anything in hijackthis and there seems to be no scanner on the net that can help me. PLEASE HELP before i have to re format

I am curently running Windows XP with service pack 1. i have include both my hijackthis log and silent runners

Hi,
Download Ewido and install it. Then run, you will receive a warning message saying "Database not found", click "OK" for this. Next in the main screen, click "Update" and click "Start Update". After the update process, exit from Ewido.

Download CCleaner and install it. Download WinPFind and extract it to a folder.

Make Windows to show all files:-
Go to Start > My Computer.
Go to Tools menu, click Folder Options (Folder Option will be in View Menu in Win98).
Uncheck Hide protected operating system files.
Then, click to select the option Show hidden files and folders.
Click Apply and then click OK to exit.

Reboot in Safe Mode:-
Restart (or switch ON) the PC.
Then, keep tapping the F8 Key.
From the menu that will be displayed, out of which choose Safe Mode and press Enter.

Uninstall this Software from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel:-
1] iMesh
2] MessengerPLUS (these is found to bring/bundle spyware along with them)

Run HijackThis and click Do only a System scan.
Then put a check mark infront of below listed entries:-

O2 - BHO: DownloadRedirect Class - {00000000-6CB0-410C-8C3D-8FA8D2011D0A} - D:\Program Files\iMesh\iMesh5\iMeshBHO.dll
O2 - BHO: iMeshBar BHO - {5345A7A1-805A-4923-B505-86B2FEBA3FE0} - D:\Program Files\iMeshBar\bar\2.bin\IMESHBAR.DLL
O3 - Toolbar: iMeshBar - {5345A7A9-805A-4923-B505-86B2FEBA3FE0} - D:\Program Files\iMeshBar\bar\2.bin\IMESHBAR.DLL
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MessengerPlus3] "D:\Program Files\MessengerPlus! 3\MsgPlus.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MessengerPlus3] "D:\Program Files\MessengerPlus! 3\MsgPlus.exe" /WinStart
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Serviceprocess] scanSYS.exe
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
O16 - DPF: {11311111-1111-1111-1111-111111111157} - file://C:\Recycled\Q330995.exe

Close all other open programs except Hijackthis and click the button Fix Checked in HijackThis.

Exit from HijackThis. Delete these folders (and all the files within them):-
D:\Program Files\iMesh
D:\Program Files\iMeshBar
D:\Program Files\MessengerPlus! 3

Go to Start > Search. Here click "All files and folders" in the left panel. Next, select all the drives to search, and then click "Advanced options". Here select the options "Search hidden files", "Search system files and folders" and "Search subfolders". Next, type this filename and search for it:-
scanSYS.exe
If the file is found, right-click on the filename, and click "Delete".

Run CCleaner:

  • Click "Options" button and here go to "Advanced" tab and uncheck the option "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours".
  • Click OK to exit from the Options.
  • Finally click "Run Cleaner" and click "OK" to continue cleaning.

Run Ewido:

  • Click on the "Scanner" button in the left menu, then click on the "Start" button.
  • If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select "Clean" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.
  • When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file.

Next, run WinPFind.exe and click "Start Scan". After the scan, save the log it gives.

Reboot to Normal Mode. Run HijackThis again, click Do a System scan and save log, and post the fresh log along with the Ewido and WinPFind log.

hi,

I can open norton now so that problems solved and those pop ups that I was talking about seemed to have gone as well. After i had completed all your steps i rebooted in normal mode and norton said it found a trojan named dmonj.exe and it could not delete it, however, i used pocket killer and norton no longer finds it. With winpfind i left it runnig for close to 4 hrs and go no result so i stopped it and therefore dont have a log for it. It shouldn't have taken that long should it? Also now when i go to use windows media player it comes up with a error message saying that it has had an internal error and cant open. I tryed reinstalling but it didnt work. Is that related to the virus or another problem? Now that the trojans gone can i reinstall Imesh?

Here's the logs

Hi,
There are still some things to remove. Please download CWShredder and SpywareBlaster.

Boot in safe mode. Run CWShredder and click "Fix". Next, run SpywareBlaster and click "Enable All Protection" and close it.

After this, run HijackThis and click "Do only a system scan", and put a checkmark against these entries:-

O2 - BHO: iMeshBar BHO - {5345A7A1-805A-4923-B505-86B2FEBA3FE0} - D:\Program Files\iMeshBar\bar\2.bin\IMESHBAR.DLL (file missing)

O16 - DPF: {11311111-1111-1111-1111-111111111157} - file://C:\Recycled\Q330995.exe

Close all other programs, and click "Fix Checked" in HijackThis.

Search for these files (Start > Search) and delete them, if found:-
dmonj.exe
scanSYS.exe

Reboot to Normal Mode. Perform an online virus scan at Panda ActiveScan with the "Disinfection" option enabled. Save the log it gives after the scan.

Run HijackThis again, click Do a System scan and save log, and post the fresh log along with the Panda ActiveScan log.

hi,

CWS found nothing yet when I ran panda scan it found Cool Web....... dont no what thats about. for some reason i cant search on my computer when ever I open the search either in safe mode or normal all I get is a box that looks like an empty folder with a grey box to the side where search companion should be but there is nothing in it except a title which says search companion so i couldn't search for those files........is this to do with the trojan or something else? Also what was the purpose of spyware blaster.....is it just a protection cause I didnt scan with it? I've also notice a problem with opening blogs in messenger. When I open the photos they are only thumb nail size and i cant enlarge them? Heres the logs.....thanx heaps for this
