Hey there, it seems like i'm having trouble with my computer. When I boot it up my CPU usage immediately rockets to 100%. After locating and stopping the malicious program that's eating up all my resources, another program starts using it up. VERY frustrating. I'm running a Windows XP SP1, AMD Athlon XP 3000+, 150GB combined HDDs, 1GB RAM, Ati Radeon 9800 Pro. I tried running SpyBot S&D, (which found 115 problems by the way!!!!!) and Norton AV but to no avail. I at last found out about HiJackThis but I have no idea what any of it means. If a kind sir or madam could please have a gander at it for me and help me out I'd be hopelessly grateful.

Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked' :

Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here & navigate to & delete the following if found:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\qooitx.exe< file
C:\WINDOWS\befuryn.exe< file
C:\WINDOWS\olitwnqd.exe< file
C:\WINDOWS\mstasks2.exe< file

C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\DameK UltraBlue< folder

Reboot normally & Go here for an on-line scan & set it to autoclean for you.
Post another log after.

Cheers for the advice! I've done all you recommended and it seems to be running better. Here's my new log file for you to check over. Thanks again.

You still have a worm. Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked' :

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Update] wuamgrd.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Update] wuamgrd.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Update] wuamgrd.exe

Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here

Go to your system32 folder & you should find the following file: wuamgrd.exe
Delete it.

In order to view this file you may have to select 'show hidden files/folders.' Instructions on how to here.

Reboot normally after doing the above then post a fresh log plz.

Ok, I checked the ones you asked for and fixed them. However, when I went into safe mode I couldn't find find the wuamgrd.exe anywhere, even though I followed that guide you linked to about seeing hidden files. Should I be worried about this?

Anyways, here's my log:

Cheers for all your help,

No, don't worry. On certain entries hijackthis completely removes the item, we just have to be certain it is gone by checking manually.
The only worry now is why the following entry is running from the temp folder??

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Bandwidth Monitor Pro] "C:\DOCUME~1\test\LOCALS~1\Temp\Rar$EX00.891\Bandwidth Monitor Pro.exe" /minimized
