i cant even scan.. this is really frustrating.. i've allowed active x content to run and all but the update fails after 100%.. i cant even get to the actual scanning.. i've reboot and tried many times but its juz the same.. any ideas?

Please wait to update the virus definitions...

Update process FAILED. No further antivirus actions can be performed!

Attention, you must be online to activate Kaspersky Online Scanner, since the latest Anti-Virus bases version must be downloaded prior to scan. Otherwise we cannot guarantee detection of latest viruses. [21]

nothing is found.. do i have to restart before scanning though? i didn't restart the comp..

Some anti virus programs require that you reboot, I am not sure with NOD32 if this is the case. Wouldn't hurt though.

hmm.. i restarted and scanned.. nothing found.. anymore ideas?

I have had a similar problem and discovered today that it appears to be due to Windows Live Messenger. This IM software allows file sharing and runs a Service for this called "messenger sharing folders USN journal reader service". When I disabled this Service in MSCONFIG all the problems disappeared - including some problems I was having when I had WMP 11 search drives for songs (it would cause the computer to reboot.)

I have an open service request to Microsoft and will inform them of this discovery tomorrow.
