Hello, I am having trouble with a problem I am unable to resolve. My taskbar switches from Blue to Grey and stays that way. My sound has stopped working, I get errors invloving Sound Drivers not being available, I have attempted to fix this but my sound driver is fine - Yet it seems to not seem to find a sound device ( I have one obviously). In my attempt to solve this issue I used a restore point from a week ago, and did not solve the problem. In fact it may have caused a new one or it may be another affect of the Problem, my IE7 will not let me use tabbed browsing anymore. i installed ie7 long ago so I do not believe the restore to be the cause of the problem. Here is my Hijackthis log, my avg scan was clean except for a couple Tracking Cookies.

Just Bumping this thread hoping to get some help, its very difficult living w/out sound :(

I don't know how to fix the whole problem, although i have it myself. But you should be able to get your sound working. Open up "Run" from your start menu and type in "services.msc" this should take you to a big list of services provided by microsoft and other programs running on your computer. Scroll towards the bottom and find Windows Audio. Right click on it and click start. This should start the Windows Audio Service and your sound should play.

Thanks for the advice, unfortunatly it was a bit too late. I have already used the cure-all and formatted my windows partition. Thanks again! -Zoompa

anchom, this thread is nearly 3 years old. You need to create your OWN new thread rather than hijack an unsolved thread. Begin your own thread, state all your problems, give pertinent info...operating system, anti-virus program, steps you have taken in an attempt to correct the problems and somebody will offer to help.
