I currently run a G5 with two hard drives. The first is partitioned in half. Partition A is the system. Partition B is my user folder. The second is one large partition of random stuff.

What I would essentially like to do is set up a RAID array without having to reformat. Here is my current idea:

Use Carbon Copy Cloner to create images of my system partition and user partition. Use samba to save these files to my Windows machine.

Boot into the OS X Disk Utility and set up an array, partition, and reformat.

But now what do I do? Do I reinstall the OS and put the images on a non-system partition? How can I restore the OS? I can't do it from inside OS X obviously.

Tools I have at my disposal:
G5 system recovery disk
DiskWarrior for OS 10.3
Network w/ samba to back-up files to a windows machine
