Click start and on the right hand side you should see My Computer, right click then go to properties and this should tell you.

1. Update to SP2
2. Download relevent updates from Microsoft--both for XP and for your Office programs.
3. Are you protected by an antivirus program? If not, get on the internet and run a free virus scan from one of the many firms that offer scanning service. (I would recommend "Panda" which protects my computer and has done the job of keeping me clean perfectly)
