Dealing with Verizon and routinely losing internet access for hours per day. The troubleshooting software does nothing. I have since used the windows vista troubleshooting software and the constant issue is the DNS Server at 192.168.1.1, the DSL modem. I write to inquire if this issue is known to others. Resetting the modem is not working. Guidance sought

That sounds to me like a defective modem, contact verizon and they can check your modems logs to see if your modem has been properly connected to their network.
