Hi, I'm trying to access the internet on an eMachine d620 running Windows XP Professional through a wireless linksys connection with an Atheros ethernet card. I just reinstalled the drivers for said card. It seems that it can't renew my IP address, and it lists both the Local Area Connection and the Wireless Network Connection as having their media disconnected. IPconfig shows:

Windows IP Configuration
Host name: pustulio-ii (computer name)
Primary DNS Suffix
Node Type: Unknown
IP Routing Enabled: No
WINS Proxy Enabled: No

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Media State: Media disconnected
Description: Generic Marvell Yukon 88E8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller
Physical Address: 00-1D-72-D5-2B-71

Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection:
Media State: Media disconnected
Description: Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter
Physical Address: 00-23-4D-58-9E-8B

Any help? :/

I'll start with the obvious question: Is there a Wireless Lan switch and is it turned on? If there is no switch or if it is on and all the drivers are showing as ok, then you may have a hardware issue with the wireless lan. If you aren't getting anywhere you could buy a usb wireless lan adaptor (they are pretty cheap) and see if that works.
