Unless you're going to be doing a bunch of CAD/Multimedia editing, the core2duos are the best bet. Cheaper than the Xeons.
I'm gonna do a lot of CAD editing next year. Multimedia.. meh, don't edit much but I do when I need to.

However, there is no substitute for the quad core :)
Hey, what quad core processors are already in the market? Amd Opteron? How about Intel Core2 Extreme Quad core?
Anyone here using above vcard on vista? What driver did you use for it. I use v100.65 and whenever I run a game, a box appears saying NVidia graphics card stopped responding.
I'm gonna buy individual parts and set up my own computer. I already have 1 gig ram so I will not focus on buying anymore ram (but if you advice to get more...). Video card is just 256 mb so I'm planning to upgrade it. Processor is a sure upgrade from 2.4 ghz and so will be the motherboard. Of course, because I have only 40 gb hdd, I plan on buying a new one with greater size. I plan to keep all other accessories (monitor/lcd, mice, keys, etc).
I'm more of a gamer/multimedia type user. I multitask a lot. So, here come the questions.
What Processor should I go for? Which among the processors are good for gaming and multimedia?
What graphics card do you recomment? (And I hope it is compatible with vista).
Should I get more ram?
What parts should I prioritize (processor/mainboard, graphics or ram)?
How much would your recommended parts approximately cost?
For a student.. Those laptops with cheap graphics so gaming will be limited. lolz
I tried this when Dani just posted it. Didn't work. Doesn't even start.. Er, is really this vista-compatible?
I think that a key element is to offer different ways for members to interact. On DaniWeb, there are the forums, social networks in member profiles, blogging, an irc chat network for live communication, etc.
A chatroom seems like a good idea.
Oh, thank you. :'( I'm so filled with joy. Lolz. I didn't know of such performance settings window before. Funny though, the animate windows when min/max/closing was checked yet there was no animations. I unchecked and checked it again then there was animation. :-/
Hey all. I can run aero on my vista and I thought it was great. Then I initialized the guest account and run aero on that account as well. The first thing I noticed on the guest account was the fact that windows are dynamic (shrinking before disappearing, moving dynamically onto taskbar when minimized, etc) and I wondered why I never noticed that before. Back to my admin account, I noticed then that the Dynamic Windows feature does not apply although every other feature of Aero is present. Any ideas why the Dynamic Windows feature is missing in my admin account?
I've got a score of 2.5..
3.4 for 2400 MHz processor (not dual core)
4.0 for 1 gb ram:?:
2.5 for desktop graphics -256 mb geforce 5500:'(
2.6 for gaming graphics ditto
a whopping 4.9 for a 40 gb hard drive with two 20 gb partitions one of which vista is installed on :-O
Ah, I see. Northeast Ohio... Cleveland? Sorry, dunno the maps of US
North Korea unabashedly blows up the moon
By Author, Associated Press Writer.
NORTH KOREA – The world thought that North Korea didn’t have the nuclear firepower to hit Japan let alone the moon. They were wrong.
At approximately 11:20 P.M. EST North Korea changed the world forever. Using an advanced space missile that the world has yet to even wrap their mind around, the North Koreans showed of their firepower to the world by hitting the moon.
The launch point of the missile remains unknown although an anonymous source says the government thinks it is Nampo, North Korea.
Preliminary estimates put the explosive power of the nuclear bomb at 10,000 that of the one dropped on Hiroshima.
“This has been the most powerful bomb exploded to date,” stated nuclear weapons expert Noah Cain, “and capable of destroying the entire state of Rhode Island.”
As of 11:30 PM EST the Bush Administration was not available for comment on the explosion, although Jeckma Uji, an aide to the President says the government is still waiting for a response from North Korea.
John Canterbury, a resident of Los Angeles, California, was reported saying, “I was looking at the moon through my telescope when suddenly a huge fiery cloud appeared. I ran inside to pray thinking the world was going to end.”
Experts are saying that the amount of debris and radiation that will reach earth as a result of the explosion will be minimal. …
Ah, great. Does he also live in Ohio?
NO DONT DO IT!
That is NOT a new techonlogy even although MS are making it out to be.
Its the same idea as paging to the hard disk which is almost as old as computers themselves.
Basically when you run out fo RAM it pages to the HDD. HDD = Slow as its mechanical. RAM = fast as its electric. Thats why when you do something intensive you can hear the hard disk clicking away and the light goes
Hard disks are still much faster than USB devices though. Therefore, using USB devices as RAM is a BAD idea.
Also, hard disks are designed for paging but memory keys etc... are not. A usb memory key will wear out after about 100,000 reads/writes. If you play a game and it pages a lot, for example you could wear out your memory key in a day.
Silly ms....
Really? I've been using my usb as ram for a month now and I've been playing a LOT of games during the time. The usb's still alive and kicking. :-/
its just like this
example: what animal considered a man,s bestfried?
then i will give a series of answer that you can choose from.
option button1 dog
option button2 cat
option button3 reptile.
all i wanna know is the source code for the option button.
thanks for the time i really appreciate it.
The answer is dog. So the code must check if the option button for dog is clicked or if the value is true. By the way, how does your app check the answer? Does it have a command button to check or does it check immediately after clicking a choice?
You are a Filipino ?
Yep. Check location.
what is your native language scudzilla?
Tagalog
Well, I can speak two languages (my native language and English) fluently and a little Spanish and Japanese.
On topic: I searched for google and it wanted me to change the word to mudzilla >.< but I found myself the top search.
Time to throw it 6' under the ground.. Kidding.. This is a serious problem. Anyway, suggestions:
check the video card for damages
maybe the power led or the front panel buttons are just disconnected
Other than that, you can wait for other more experienced members to post here.
A forum I'm a part of hosts eye-balls.. (or should I say members host eb's).. We meet around twice to thrice a year just to get to know other members. We then do many sorts of gimmick such as bowling, going to the beach etc. I was personally lured from the shadows when I attended one of the eb's. However, that forum is still only national (Philippines). This forum is world-wide and it would be a hassle to have time to meet each other. Would it be impossible? Maybe, maybe not. I have no idea what the Daniweb UK Meet thread is all about but I guess its just the same as eb's. Would it be impossible to have local get-togethers in some parts of the world? *Shrugs*
Anyway, because I was already lured out of the shadows in a different forum, I gained confidence to start posting even in different forums such as DaniWeb and the reason I joined here is to help with problems and answer questions.
My calculations here says that while viewing with IE and typing right now and running the computer as I normally do (full usage), vista uses about 600-610 mb.
End is not advisable to use. Unload me is actually fine by itself.
The first line means getting a function "GetPixel" from gdi32.dll
Forgot about the others.
Are you sure there are 2 t's? The closest word I know is tyrosinemia but it has only 1 t.
You gotta give us a clue.
It does.. I mean a space character " ". So.. it would look like
Format(x, "!@@@@@@") & " ";
3gz processor and 1gb ram.. I'd say those will yield good gaming results for the games of today. If you want to upgrade for gaming, I'd suggest upgrade the video card.
Why not add a space every after 1 digit number?
Wouldn't
UCase and LCase
do...
No, UCase and LCase actually are the opposite of what he is trying to do.
There are two words.. either menage or manege. But I'll have to say menage.
I don't understand the
as the counter counts up, select only those numbers that have no repeated digits ie 03214 would be selected but not 03213, then convert each selected number back to the corresponding characters.
Er, no, I can't seem to understand your explanation. So far, there is Oct and Hex functions but for the others, I guess you have to convert manually. And, if you don't mind, please explain a little more.
I see. What are food1, food2 etc? You did not specify what they are.
You Say Something SEEMS Wrong. Did You Get A Runtime Error ? If So, What Was It.
It's Been A While Since I Did Any VB, So Someone Will Correct Me If I'm Wrong.....
There's Nothing Wrong With ck_chick.Value = 0. Check Boxes, Radio Buttons And A Host Of Other Controls (If Not All !) Have A Default Field That VB Assumes. Most Of The Time It Is The .Value Field. If You Just Use ck_chick = 0 Or opt_option1 = False, Then This Is Fine.
ck_chick is an integer. An error appears when ".value" is added to assign a value to integers and others such.
And what do you mean by 'somewhere is highlight' ?
I think he means that the ck_chick.value = 0 is highligted when the error appears.
You don't need to add ".value" to assign values for integers. Example: "ck_chick = 0"
Open up Visual Basic on your pc
In the file menu there should be an option that sounds something like "Make projectname.exe". Choose that. An .exe file will now appear in your project's directory and can be distributed to clients who do not have visual basic. Alternatively you can use the Setup & Deplyoment wizard (check vb6's section in the start menu)
projectname.exe isn't enough to make apps run on other computers because those computers may lack some components needed by the app (vb components for example). The best way is to run the Setup & Deployment Wizard and include those components into the installer.
Once again, I failed to receive an email regarding a reply to this thread. You're correct sir.
Dunno if it words but try using Ascii conversion.
It means living in mud or slime.
Alright.. Give me a minute or so.
Edit: After a minute and 33 seconds

No one gonna answer? Alright.. monstrosity
I know.. That's why I asked if it was a proper word, meaning if its in the dictionary... By now, though, I think it is in the dictionary..
Ah, I know this one. But is it really a proper word? Isn't it a word someone just made up? Well, I'll let others answer it this time. :)
