Hollowman 1, I followed this thread since your original post and too can understand your frustration. I am just a member here and kept quiet once I saw admins attempting to solve it. Guess it was a problem that side tracked them. Sorry, I should of spoken up.

I remember when I was young, my mother would always say "Its them danm astronauts" whenever there was something strange like a hurricane or earthquake. NOW,today and having Vista, I say "Its them danm windows updates". :@ Got one in today 9-24-08 for Windows Defender and had to reconfigure my microphone and recording settings. SP1 I'm pretty sure wiped out my WinMediaPlayer enhancements and visualizations. Now I'm so sure I have win updates notify me of when there's a new update available. I can check out my system then install the update. THEN search for what has goofed up. Its Microsoft technical way of teaching people to trou:@ bleshoot their new Vista operating system.

I don't have a "windows" key on my keyboard nor have I ever seen a "windows" key on any keyboard. My suggestion for anyone starting out in Vista is to use th Classic View until you get use to all the different control panel items and what they do and how to configure (or re configure) them. Then if you are bored and are in dire need of a real mind _ _ _K then switch to the new user unfriendly GUI and enjoy. I have more use for the "run" window than "search" anyways.

Has anyone here experienced their time clock changeing itself to military time---as in
4:08p.m. becomes 16:08p.m. End off August mine did this-and twice in September. STRANGE or just a time server thing?????? :-O

Hey DuDe good to see your on here. I'm a reader, I can spend hours here at Daniweb and read all kinds of problems people have. And learn from alot from the responses. I will now start to participate as I should.
JBennet in a couple replies above counterdicts himself when he states that Vista is Old Technology DOS based

its bad as ME is DOS baded

DOS = Old technology

Dos -> Old windows 1.x - 3.x -> 9x -> ME

Then he goes on to say
DOS is dead. NT is now dominant.
and finishes with
NT = New Technology

NT3.x -> NT4 "Windows NT" -> NT5 (windows 2000) -> NT 5.1 (Xp) -> NT 5.2 (windows 2003) -> NT6 (windows vista)

Now, I'm not here to start any wars but I say "To each their own". Kinda like I prefer to drive an Astro van and maybe you like a Cadillac. I really bummed out when I had to let Win95 go for Win98 and then I really bitched when I had to go to ME {I tested systems for a builder-repairer who gave me a system provided I use the operating system that he installed. A good way to see the over the time problems that arise from the user.} ME had a whole lotta drivers that came with it. A bit more advanced than 98. Less crashes, but of course there were crashes bsod's. All …

WinME is a step beyond Win98SE. I ran WinMe since its been out and have never had to reinstall or had a virus. Couple missing dll's along the way but thats about it. I tortured that computer running multiple programs at once. I used AVG Free as a virus prog and used multiple registry and adaware programs. I use Vista now and kinda miss ME-It was a great OS.
