I have all the backup CDs, just not here...a long while ago my computer crashed due to over heating, so that could be it. i plan on just doing a clean install. thanks for all the help
allready did...i know....whew!
i ran defrag and while defraging it would crash.
running XP home
zone alarm is the firewall
i have AVG, trojan hunter, adaware, spybot, hijackthis
computer is HP pavillion zt3000 (little over 4 years old)
Monday, while watching tv...my computer hit the dredded blue wall. The message appeared "Windows had to shut down in order to protect your computer" and some other mumbo jumbo, crashed, restarted...and begun to run slow. When I would open a program, I would get the blue screen again. I could run AOL instant messanger fine for about a half hour, then the blue screen would happen again. About the third time, I got a new message that said something along the lines of "Trojan Hunter Guard could not load file XXXXXX, file XXXXX needed to start Trojan Hunter" then it crashed. I went into safe mode, deleted that program, ran disk clean up, anti spyware, anti everything...and it crashed in safe mode. I restarted it again, and, although running slow, the crashing seemd to subside. Then...it happened again. But this time I got a blank black screen with the message "Smart Drive detected a fatal error press F1 to skip". I waited and waited, nothing happened, so I hit F1. It started like normal, once Windows started, I would get the same message.
Any ideas? I am currently a poor college student and had to get a deadline for a paper extended TWICE because of this. I am not computer savy, and, as far as my knowledge of computers goes, I have tried what I could. Help would be appriciated.
Thanks in advance,
Kyle

dont everyone tell me at once now....i dont know which one to do....
im sure people are tired of me posting the same problem over and over, but i finally found my driver updates...but when i go to install, i get the notice "INF ERROR: Drivers not found" there could have been a mistake on my part, so i pulled out my recovery cd to see if i could reinstall something i may have deleated....when i did, nothing happend, i got the same error...im pretty desperate right now to update my drivers, so ill take anything haha.
update for my ati radeon 9200...its not that i dont want junior posters help, its just that every junior poster's help that i did get was either invalid or just plain messed up my computer...dont hate...
i tried the link from Just_a_Nobody....when i went to download all it would say was "turn off popup blocker" which i dont have...then it redirects me to the ATI page (which has gotten me nowhere before) saying that it was a link "not within the ATI domain" soooo...cant download
yea a 'professional' would have helped...you know, giving 'professional' advice on how to 'professionaly' like a 'professional' install the drivers and 'professional' help. but you know...'professionals' are hard to find.
oh and by the way...i did uninstall the appropriate things...when reading the license agreement something or another said "do not reinstall the old drivers because some of MY settings will be erased" i thought that was a little fishy. but again, what do i know....im not a 'professional'.
i really appriciate the help...but last time i took a junior poster's advice my computer almost died....no offence...but i would like to get some professional advice (although ill keep the site bookmarked :D)
anyone reading this...DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT update with the omega...it totally fudged up my computer...just a heads up
i recntly posted on here abou my ATI Radeon 9200, well i updated the omega driver (which i was told to do on here) and my computer went haywire...the screen was waving back and forth and eveything ran encredably slow...well i did a system restore and (after a lot of work trying to get to it) fixed it....but, if anyone could help me out here...OTHER than the horrible advice i got last time, would be greatly appriciated...
i had a similar problem with my laptop recently...my hard drive was shot. completly. no one knows why (even the manufacture). i would deffanatly call the help line for your computer. no one could help me...RIP...:( so just to be safe, call them and they can step you (hopefully) through the problem.
whenever im playing either a CD or an MP3 on my computer and open up another program, the sound becomes severly distorted. it sputters and slows down. it only last until that program is up and running correctly. any ideas as to what could be the problem?
anyone? want to make sure...dont wanna fudge up my computer
i had the same problem. i ran hijackthis (read another post for help on that) and everything worked fine and dandy. you probably have something nasty stuck in there...but find hijackthis (not sure exactly where, but make sure its from another forum here) run it (follow instructions CAREFULLY) and everything should be ok.
not exactly sure, but is the catalyst 5.9 for windows XP (classic) what i should be downloading?
i have an ATI RADEON 9200 that is in desprate need of updating. yet when i go on the ATI site, my laptop is not supported, nor is the 9200 version. where do i update if i cant get it from their own site? when i do get it, how do i go about updating?
i did a system restore last night, and everything works fine now....ill still go through and take out all that stuff though....thanks
my computer, recently, has been acting quite odd...when i start windows, it takes a conciderable amount of time and when the windows tone starts, it cackles. Once thats all over with, my programs start slow, and when i try to run widows media and open, lets say, a browser, the music slows down and distorts until the program is actually running. (then theres problems with my internet but thats just the crappy campus internet....nothing i can do there) Should i do the hijack this thing and send it in, because ive scaned for viruses, and got nothing, scaned for adware and got nothing, and scaned for spyware, deleted that, and it still acks the same way....any help would be mucho appricated...
heres my HJT log...if it would do any good...

hello again, i downloaded a recomended program called Zonealarm for extra firewall protection. im on a network at college and every 5 or 7 minutes a get an alert that my college is trying to access my computer. then a few minutes later i get another saying another dorm, clear across campus is trying to access my computer.....THEN a few minutes later i get another IP trying to access my computer....but by the address, i can tell its from here....somewhere.....(by the way, the alert does say they were all successfully blocked)i guess my question is, are all these access approiate, and if not, is this zonealarm doing its job properlly....thanks again in advance
ok...just tried something....i got it figgured out, BUT it will not connect to the server. i run the test and everything checks out, but it will not connect to server....getting real annoying.... :(
sorry for the late reply.....but i cant figgure out what to put in the POP3 (the incoming mail server) section in outlook. not sure of the ISP of the campus.....but that is the only thing that dosent seem to work. i test account creation and everything but the POP3 thing works. hmmmm, any ideas ?
the other thing i though of was he was sitting in HIS room, in my computer.....through the network. how would i go about protecting my computer from these kind of things?
nothing is 100%....but the thing is...the guy isnt my roomate...he lives 3 or so doors down. the only thing i could think of is he came into my locked room, knew my password, and TRIED to print things out using the wrong printer setup. so when i hit print on my dads printer (its a black and white laser jet....so yea...the pictures would /shoot/ out haha) these picture just came out.....a few websites (i had to actually stop them myself...right click on the printer icon and cancle tasks...and might i add there were quite a few) and a health report....unless he jacked my computer....he came into my room with a KEY that he shouldnt have (or possibly my roomate let him in, which is unlikly because im there before he is on most days) and he KNEW my password....im going to knock on buddy's door come monday and ask what the deal is....thanks again for the advice
ok, the damndest thing just happened. i come home for the weekends from college and today i was printing out a document from Word (a letter actually) and i hooked up to my dads printer and hit print, no problem right? well....what happened was the printer started shooting out picture of this guy who lives 2 doors down on my hall on campus....i have never taken pictures of this guy before in my life (as a matter of fact i have his highschool prom picture). now im confused. why did they start printing first thing (i do have my computer password protected when im networking in the dorm) but more importantly, how did they get there to begin with. (i also got a health report from either him or his roomate and boyz II men lyrics *wtf*) its weird....is there anything i can do to fix this....or was it a one time whoops?
how would you go about routing another email account through Outlook? i have a coupple of email accounts (college and a coupple of yahoo ones) that i would like to have sent to Outlook....how would i go about doing this?
everything is peachy. thanks a million. (still have to defrag though....might do that tonight) you guys are life savers.
some of my games are running slow, but ill just defrag over the weekend. (and yes my IP is regestered to West GA.) popups usually stop my computer, but after doing the above things......it helped dramatically. so all i really have left to do is run AVG, Spybot and Adaware......and things should be good. and i havent run LSPFix utility yet....thanks for reminding me....haha

eveytime i visit a website key words are highlited as a link. for example, words like "guitars" or "toys" are highlighted and have a link. i dont think it affects my computer too much (although it may slow it down) but i cant seem to get rid of it. i run AVG, Adaware and Spybot but it never fixes it. also whenever i visit a search engine as google or ask.com, another window opens with a list of search results that are not from thoes search engines. (im thinking its something from SEEKSEEK, again, something i can not get rid of.) any help would be greatly appriciated. thanks
hello guys, im kind of new to this whole forum thing but i have the same problem as above. i ran the program to find the peper infection. but it said it couldnt find any.....any suggestions?
