Please help, I'm getting beeps on startup and the computer hangs...

well...thanks, zeroth...but this problem was solved years ago. I guess I should have marked it solved.

I've come at it from a couple different angles. Just now I went through the Network path, found the computer the printer is on, found the printer (it's shared, it's talking to the entire network. But when I try to connect it says ACCESS DENIED. There's no recourse, no suggestions...there's nowhere to go.

I don't use this Win2KPro machine often and this morning it was frozen. Cursor wouldn't even move. I rebooted and it now is acting strange, sometimes I just hear the initial disk checking noises and then nothing...black screen - the machine hasn't even accessed the monitor, yellow light blinking on the monitor. I can keep restarting (can't use the restart button, must switch power off and retart that way) and sometimes the screen will come on with the DOS initialization routine and with the familiar beep. When it goes to the "Starting Windows" DOS screen, it freezes.

Won't start with the CD or start in safe mode either. I CAN get to the setup page.

Sounds like "global warming" is really just a normal long-term weather cycle from this...

I got ripped off. Some people decided to give me some bad rep on some word game posts. It makes the rep system very innacurate. (should have 17 but have 15 now)

I got bad rep on a word game post as well. All I did was take a word out in the word change game but I guess whoever gave the bad rep didn't like my doing that.

But I can't say I got ripped off. The rep box just says approve or disapprove. If someone disapproves of someone's post then it's legitimate, I suppose. But it doesn't make the system inaccurate.
