I used to get the same with XP all the time and tracked it down to my video card drivers and mismatched RAM.

I googled a bit and found people had the same and mentioned it to be more hardware related.

Was there any new drivers installed recently? Or any upgrades?

Yeah I also use a Y splitter as well and now use the Y splitter on quite a few things around the house.

Thanks M

Well I bought both anyway, I'm just still wondering if one is better than the other?

I doubled the memory on my laptop and cleared away unnecessary start-up programs and found a good program called WinPatrol that helps monitor them for you.

Cheers for the registry advice, I have always tried to be cautious as I have seen some weird things happen to computers if the wrong reg cleaner program is used

Hi Everyone

I wondered what people's thoughts were towards Uniblue and PCPitstop.

I recently picked up both PCPitStop and Uniblue's SpeedUpMyPC and RegistryBooster as I wasn't sure which one was better and I still can't tell as different people say different ones are better.

What do you guys think?

I had a similar issue and had to end up deleting the registry key as well, just need to be careful before doing this.
Edit: Had a bit of a look and it looks like quite a few people have same problem and its due to its uninstaller program.

Im not sure if I am allowed to post a link to the solution I found.
Here is what a chap called Nexicron suggested

"It turns out that their installer or uninstaller is broken. When u attempt the uninstall it asks for a .log file, of whch there IS, under the program files\speedbit video accelerator\directory, but it's extention is a .log, and for whatever reason the uninstaller is looking for a .ECG file (no idea, alternate log extention?) So rename the extention, re-run uninstaller, point to the new log file, it will then ask you to open the log file again, except this time it IS looking for the .log file, thusly make a copy of your install.ecg file and this time rename it back to .log, point the installer to this, walla it uninstalls the way it 'should', i had to then go and remove the 'speedbit video downloader' using its uninstaller in its own dir"

I went with Avast and just made sure I disabled or took off the update sound as AVG was slowing down laptops and the PC something cronic.
I did try Avira prefer Avast now that I am used to it.

Can I ask if you know how hot your PC is getting, sometimes they say certain games and certain environments can make your PC ovearheat, you can get an additional internal fan quite cheaply as well.
