Have you tried to use the keycombination Fn+F7 (my girlfriend is using an Acer and that's the keycombi). This combination enables or disables the touchpad. Not sure why the mouse isn't working, but it's worth a shot. Good luck.

Maybe a stupid question, but are you using WEP or WPA(2) encryption? and did you use the correct key to connect to the router? Often connectionproblems can occur when you use the wrong network-key.

Sounds to me that the system checkes if all the fans are present and connected. I had a similar problem with a notebook and found out one of the fans wasn't connected right. Does the system power up when you reinstall the damaged fan?

Hi, Have you tried an external monitor? To me it sounds like an inverter, lid switch or lcd-cable problem.

Same thought here Jbennet. Or maybe one of the risers in the case is touching the MB incorrectly resulting a short circuit.

Hello there, Have you tried to boot the system without the HDD and DVD/CD-ROM's attached? Unhook them and maybe you get past the Asus screen.

Hi again, long time since I posted something here. :) Problem: My Acer Aspire 1801WSMi is dead. No boot, no post, no fans, no lights. The powerbrick seems to be fine (19Volts). No strange smell (burnt components) or something like that. Can somebody help me to find a startingpoint for …
