Depends on what kind of technologies you are personally interested in, and whether they want the physical technologies or the programming aspect. I would look into one of the following:
1) Cloud Computing
2) Immunological Computations (aka Artificial Immune Systems)
Those are two of the most interesting new fields in computer science, take a look at them. Hope this helps :)
