when installing vbulletin this error message comes up
"Step 2) Connect to the database

Attempting to attach to database

The database has failed to connect because you do not have permission to connect to the server. Please confirm the values entered in the 'includes/config.php' file."

Is the mysql server located on the same server as the site? Also if you could post your config.php file here but make sure and take out the username and password fields.

but do i need to setup another mysql database or will the install do it for me.

i could i also setup a database through the microsoft sql server i have on my computer. As you can see i have a subdomain and a person here (bluzman32) is letting my site be hosted for free on his. I also have postgres sql.

Just to clarify Zachary, the line:

in the file that mikeandike posted represents a piracy team and, hence, an illegal version of vBulletin.
