Get a degree in computer science. Learn multiple programming languages. Become competent in graphics development. BTW, Newtonian physics is also helpful for game development.

  1. Practice your maths skills.
  2. Study vector maths, and some Dynamics (Newton's Theory).
  3. Learn Object-Oriented Programming and solve little logical and maths problem.
  4. Play a lot of games!!!!
  5. Learn everything about the Graphics Pipe-line.

That's what it takes to become a game developer. (Ofcourse nobody said that you can become one for a day, or a year. This requires years of background and experience in solving problems)
