I'm writing an MP3 player (been writing it off and on for 10 years), using the WMP control in VB6. Up until now, I've been using ver. 6.4 - Now I'm upgrading to (I think) ver. 9.

I have a timer that checks the control's playState property, and grabs the next song from a listbox when playState does not equal "wmppsPlaying". The problem is once it starts playing a song, it takes time (a second or two) for the playState to update. Is there a different way to detect WPM's state that's more reliable?
