so basicly what i want to do is get a list of the open windows, like all of the tabs in the taskbar.

thanks! now that i knew what to look for i could find the code i needed. http://www.thescarms.com/vbasic/alttab.aspxr . my next question is... is there any way to get like a snapshot of each window, almost like alt+tab? thanks again!

Search google/yahoo for screen shot vb6. There are at least a half dozen out there and a couple of them have the alternative code just to take a pic of a specific window.
