Can anyone point me in some kind of direction other then google for looking at developing for mobile applications? I'm trying at the very bottom since ive got a firm know how of C++ and Java.

U will have to use CLDC (configuration) & MIDP (profile) to develope application for mobile. U can visit following sites for tutorial and codes. Download cldc1.0, midp2.0, wireles toolkit 1.4 from java.sun.com and go thru its readymade example & codes
