Fedora releases usually generate more yawns than a Ben Affleck movie for me but this time, they've gone the extra mile. I placed Fedora at number 7 in my 10 Best Linux Distributions post but now that I've seen Fedora 10, I may have to reorder the list and place Fedora at number 5 or…

Fedora is no more a testbed for (RHEL) Red Hat Enterprise Linux than Debian is a testbed for Ubuntu. Fedora is upstream from RHEL the same way as Debian is upstream from Ubuntu. Fedora as not a testbed i'm so fed up of reading posts where this is stated. Fedora's upstream are the various projects and they always push fixes upstream before …

Fedora is needed. I am glad there are very strong Gentoo, Fedora, Debian and Ubuntu communities. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. Anything that is "cool" and "really works" in one distro tends to work its way into other distros. They are all the better for it. Fedora used to run slow on my systems and I …

Fedora has plenty of community support and is ideal for desktop users, gamers and developers who do not need commercial support and want the latest. Fedora has a lot of upstream contribution to its credit. I agree with von_Wanderlust's comments below.

Fedora will do all of the partitioning for you. If you just provide a chunk of free unpartitioned space it will create the appropriate mount points and swap space.

Fedora 8 and VMplayer Steps I had to follow to enable access to the guest server from the host. Brief summary: The startup did not work right out of the box for my F8 Installation mainly due to vmnet8 not being up, but I figured it out with a lot help from #vmware channel on freenode and this is how I get it running. 1: Mount the drives.…

Fedora Core 5, the next version of software based on RedHat Linux of long ago, was released in Mid-March to the masses. I am sure that others have looked at the alpha and beta releases -- I waited until the the official release before looking at the software. Initial reactions: I love it. My hardware, for those to compare, is an AMD Athalon 1.…

Fedora was probably just being stupid when it installed GRUB. Normally, GRUB should be installed to the Master Boot Record of the first bootable hard drive, which in your case is /dev/hda. Sometimes, things get wonky, and in your case, I suspect Fedora was installing GRUB to the first partition on the hard drive. This won't work of course, …

Fedora kicks ass. With a DVD and all those brand new sparkling development tools, you cant ask for more. Until Fedora 12 you can choose between KDE and GNOME, but for some reason they came out with two versions of Fedora for Fedora 13.

Fedora and Ubuntu are different distributions, which can run the same exact software. The major difference being their package management system, and their "default" configuration. Fedora seems to follow the old adage that an operating system shouldn't give a user "too much power". It requires you to go through and determine how…

Fedora and Ubuntu have evolved same structure. The difference is that Ubuntu provide an open-source alternative to Windows and Office and focus on usability improvements, while Fedora create a Linux-based operating system that showcases the latest in free and open source software.

fedora is buggy in my expirience, i've had better luck with SLED 10. you should definetly give debian a try, it's very easy to install, it'll run quite fast.

Fedora 7 is old. No one will try to help you unless you use the most updated version of Fedora ... The reason? Because Fedora 11 is the most recent version and this version includes updated printer drivers. Most likely, it will solve your problems. Find the updated version here http://fedoraproject.org

Fedora has been used in developing a line of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. This is a quick-release during the time when Red Hat Enterprise Linux is very slow. When each new version is released, can be a bit rough, but the development is very active and problems are solved quickly.
