I have a Toshiba C850-P5010 notebook. Its a bit outdated and i wonder if i can increase its graphics performance. I had an on board 2gb ram which i have recently upgrade to 6gb. It has an intel HM76 chipset and i am currently running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. The processor is intel B950 with integrated intel hd graphics but no dedicated gpu. I had read on intel website that the motherboard have a PCI Express 2.0 slot. So can i install a graphics card in my notebook? And if yes then please suggest me some of them. Thanks …

I've recently installed a new CPU (Core2Quad Intel) and my computer no longer stays on for more than a minute. All bios are updated and the computer runs fine on my old CPU (pentium d duo). The new CPU is cool to the touch after a shutdown, so heat is most likely not an issue. However, research suggests that a shutdown so quickly and abrubtly is heat releated, so is it possible that the new CPU somehow is 'tricking' the computer into thinking it's overheated? Heat sinks function fine, given the tempurature of the new CPU and the flawless performance …

So a few months ago I took my heatsink off, and I noticed that no booting would take place; not even BIOS. Eventually, after continuous and repetitive power ons and offs, it would occasionally work again. I then removed the heatsink again, and the CPU from the socket to inspect it, but had trouble putting it back in (there were no indications on how to do so), and I dropped it several times on the pins, bending several of them. I didn't think it would do serious harm, but over time everything on my OS would suddenly be slower, as …

I want to create a word processor. It seems like a useful project because I have strong feelings about how modern big word processors like MS Word and Open Office don't do things right, so my solution is to make one with more modest features but with the huge advantage of working the way I want it to work. It seems like a fun and rewarding project, but it is also challenging and I am doing it single-handedly, so I look to the internet for help and ideas. A project like this is too big and complicated to just leap …

Hi can you only tell how can i implement the below part. i created a class for TM(implementing :IComponent interface ) and another class called Process(implementing :IContainer interface) and created P1 and P2 are instances of Process class. and A B A' B' as instances of TM. is this correct? (Two processors P1 and P2 hosting four track managers A, A’, B, B’. (Note: As this is a simulation you may simulate the use of two different processors as two ‘container’ classes).) appreciate a reply thanks ![image1](/attachments/large/3/image1.JPG "image1")

should an antivirus be reving to 50% or even worse 65% of a **1.9ghz dualcore processor** comodo actually shut down one of my game by doing this. the game was sins of a solar empire -min requirements **1.9ghz pentium IV, GeForce 6600, 500mb ram ** I dont think its suppose to rev that much...(thats out of gamemode though it still revs to 35-45% in game mode) Could any one give me a clue as to weather this should be happening?

As the title says, my motherboard won't boot up but randomly boots up by itself! Now a detailed explanation. Firstly my motherboard is [Asus P5GC-MX/1333](http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/P5GCMX1333/). When I first got it, I had a 20-Pin PSU of 300W and I've used it for about 2 weeks. Then one day, when I came home I wanted to use my PC as always but this time it wouldn't boot up! I didn't know what to do, I opened my CPU and started staring at it, hoping to find a solution when suddenly, the motherboard boots up all by itself! It didn't load the …

hello :) i'm looking for an algo to find out all possible combinations of a 2d array entries, wich are (Tasks x Processors). i.e, i have to find out all possible schedules to schedule tasks against processors. numbers of tasks and processors are variable. Suppose : ............P1.......P2.......P3 .................................... T1........3 ........6..........4 T2........5.........1..........7 T3........6.........5..........4 T4........2.........4..........5 (where T=Task and P=Processor) in above example, obviously, the optimum schedule will be: T1 -> p1 T2 -> p2 T3 -> p3 T4 -> p1 (where " -> " means, 'should be assigned to') but i need to find all the possibilities of scheduling. (all possible combinations). …

I have a bucket of sand. Is that enough? I need someone to tell me how to, chemically, extract sillicon from the sand to begin spinning it. I am making a 128-bit processor for my upcoming 128-bit OS. Can you help me with some steps? Am not too good with chemistry. Thank you.

From what I understand, ALU is exclusively for mathematical operations. For simple tasks like reading a web page, saving a text file, copying data etc., are arithmetic operations used or can the processor do it without using that? I don't have much knowledge about computer architecture, but it seems to me that these jobs mainly deal with control instructions and no arithmetic is required, apart from maybe ASCII conversions.

ARM's ASM is a breed in it's own. AMD and Intel, although different, have more closely related assembler than most. Someone mentioned the other day that AMD is just an Intel repeat, basically copying engineering designs and repeating them with reduced cost (as they don't pay to have it designed, just built). Do you believe that there is any truth in that? Is Intel consistently ahead of the curve, or is it a more even balance? On a personal note, I've always used Intel.

Hi, Firstly, I have read the FAQ. My problem: I installed new pair of Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600 kit (2 pcs.) ( Datasheet for it ) on my Asus P6T Deluxe mobo with i7 920 processor. Before upgrading I have not had any problems at all and now my computer will not power up at all. The fans don't spin up, only the mobo power switch and reset buttons are blinking with fast pace like flickering. Nothing else was touched during the install. I have tried reseting the CMOS by taking out the battery for few minutes. Oh and I …

I am in the process of building a new computer to replace my 7 year old Compaq. I've never actually built a computer before so I wanna make sure that my parts are compatible. According to a friend of mine the processor I've picked (with due research) is a newer processor so I don't know if anything special needs to be done. According to newegg.com the motherboard that supports this processor supports several different types of RAM such as 1800, 1333, 1600, etc. My big question is (and if its been answered elsewhere and I missed it I apologize) the …

There's an interesting discussion going on in this very forum, right now, right here, which poses the question: Which is best, an AMD or Intel Processor? The answer comes in the form of a rhetorical question, namely how long is a piece of string. That said, the real world consensus would appear to be, as it always has been, that Intel is generally faster but also more expensive. At the risk of starting another Mac versus PC or Windows versus Linux debate, seeing as the latest AMD processor has recently dropped into my lap I thought it might be interesting …

Morning All, I have a customer who has bought a computer with Athlon iix4 Model 635 on a Biostar GF8200E motherboard. This cleaverly alters the processor speed dependant on useage to save energy. The problem is that customer needs to fix the processor speed for a music application he is running. Anyone know how to fix the speed please ? It can be any speed above 1.6. Thanks for your heklp Denis

I never liked Intel compared to AMD but lately I have used a few intel processors in laptops (older ones). The speed might be like 1.8GHz but it compares to like 2._GHz to amd cpu's... I want to build my own ultimate computer. I was going to use the AMD 1100T processor but was looking and found the Intel Core i7-2600K @ 3.40GHz, obviosly it is .1GHz quicker but it is only $100 more instead of the usally $1000 processor by intel. It is socket 1155 so not vary common but seems worth it. I compared at this site http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7-2600K+%40+3.40GHz, …

I have read about how multicore processing works of the Intel. The manual that I read had left out a part that would of been useful how to actually use multiple cores. It just explained how all the different parts of the CPUs interact with each other, so could someone show me how to use them in assembly. If someone could give me some code in simplest form as possible (for me to understand), to help me that would be very helpful. The assembler I use is Nasm and I'm not to good at switching to protected mode so I …

Intel’s latest line of processors, code named “Sandy Bridge”, was designed with intense multimedia demands in mind. Although we won’t likely see a sandy bridge chip on the market until early 2011, we have learned a good deal of information in regards to the architecture of the processor. The greatest leap in design is the debut of silicon that is devoted to transcoding data. Think data conversion. An everyday example would be the transcoding of audio and video data when playing a media file that requires a special codec (QuickTime, DivX, i.e.) for playback or converting something between two formats, …

When I use the windows experience index test, my computer ALWAYS freezes when it gets to the CPU part. I have tried multiple times, and it always happens. So I decided to try another program. I did the 3dMarkVantage test, and the graphics tests did fine, the first CPU test finished, and when it moved to the second, my computer froze on the warm up. I have a core i7 860 @ 2.8GHz.

When I use my computer, I often feel that my CPU is under performing. The only time I don't feel like this is when I am using programs or playing games that are made for multi-core processors. This has stopped me from upgrading to i7 simply because I don't know if windows will use it that way I want it too. Maybe I could start a HUGE debate out of this question. :)

Hey everyone, This is my first post so please bear with me. I've had my own build desktop for some years, but last week the CPU died, it would start up, only to fail. So I'm thinking of getting a new motherboard and CPU, and was hoping for some recommendations. OLD SPEC: Gigabyte motherboard: ga-k8nf-9 CPU: AMD Althlon 64 3000+ 4 x 512mb PC3200 DDR 400Mhz 184pin DIMM Ge Force 6600 I noticed that the newer chips don't support DDR memory? So any recommendations would be welcome including cheap sites and places I can buy these parts. Thanks a lot.
