I have i5-2430M on an acer aspire 4750z laptop, then last year I upgrade the ram with DDR3-1600 CAS 11, now I am confused because in the ark.intel.com it was stated that memory type should be DDR3 1066/1333. Now my question is why the ram still supported by the cpu(core i5-2430M) that is not listed in the arc.intel.com? and i was also planing to expand the ram of my laptop, does my cpu can support DDR3-1600 CAS 9 or DDR3-14900 CAS 10? I will appreciate for any help will come Thank you, PS. sorry for my bad english

I have a motherboard that supports dual channel DDR2 667Mhz slots with support for up to 4GB. Will I have to put in 2 sticks with each running at about 667Mhz or will I have to have 2 sticks with each running at about 333Mhz to add up to that 667Mhz?

Hi Folks – I am trying to identify a good desktop primarily for use doing statistical computing with the R language. Not sure if I should be posting here or in custom builds or somewhere else. I have some very large files (Census & BLS stuff, mainly – as much as 14 gig in a file) and R likes to hold what it is working on in RAM, so I need to max out the RAM – I am thinking 16 gig to start, but with the expansion slots to go up to 64 if that proves to be necessary …

PHP is a nice language with features a wide range of automated features for memory but when it comes to mass processing for things like calculating pi or processing a database that's a couple dozen Gigabytes then you may run into a few troubles if things aren't done correctly. This of course only happens depending on what operating system you have and what updates you have done along with settings you have set but those pieces of information are a bit puzzling as some web servers have this problem while others don’t. So this feature I'm going to talk about …

What are the repercussions of having an odd number of RAM modules. E.g. 3 x 4GB I know it will work but I want to know exactly what damage it can do/problems it can create. Cheers EDIT: And also, why is it better to have more RAM modules (e.g 2x4GB < 4x2GB)

Hey, I'm trying to get a VAIO with 1.83 GHz Intel Atom N470 and 1 GB RAM to run more smoothly. It's using Windows 7 Starter. It's using most of it's RAM just being idle. Right now, it's running taskmanager and msconfig.exe and according to taskmanager, it's using 70% of its RAM. I've brought it down from 80+%, by preventing a bunch of programs from opening up at startup, and disabling some services, but I don't know how to get further because I am at the end of my experience with Windows. I've gone to the Resource monitor, and I'm …

Hey. I my having troubles booting up my pc. The front light is red. None of the fans are working. I'm not receiving any images or beeps. My case is a Cooler master HAF 912. Please help figure this out. I purchase the computer parts at my local Microcenter. Before I thought it was the motherboard, cpu, or powersupply. I did exchange all the parts except the hardrive, case, and disc drive. Now, I'm really lost; this is my first time building my pc and I'm soon to just call it quits and return all of the parts. I even …

My motherboard has 1 stick of 2gb ram and can support up to 4gb total, so I bought exactly the same stick of ram. However, once I installed it the computer would get stuck on "Verifying DMI Pool data". The first time I started it up it did say "Verifying DMI pool data..... Update Success". If I remove the new stick, it boots up fine. I tried resetting the BIOS data and also enabling "update ESCD" but to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks! EDIT: The BIOS recognizes the new stick of RAM and even states that …

Greetings... I am a new member to DaniWeb. My Wife's system began its current symptoms about a week ago 08-10-2012. First sporadically, then seemed to escalate exponentially until 08-12-2012 when she could no longer: 1. double-click on her icons in... (we must right-click and choose OPEN) a. the START menu b. desktop c. Quick Launch (which disappears after each reboot after we have clicked to have it display) 2. We could no longer move icons on the desktop to another location until I ran a. regsvr32 ole32.dll and b. regsvr32 /i shell32.dll c. It solved the problem of icon movement, …

Hey guys, This is my first post as i can usually find my answers elsewhere, but this time, ive had no luck. I am running windows xp sp3 professional 32-bit and have recently upgraded my RAM from a 256mb(333) + 512MB(333) to a 512MB(400)+512MB(400) set up. When i did this upgrade i got an enjoyable multi-tasking boost so i again upgraded to a 1GB(333)+1GB(333) set up. Again another good performance boost! But, over the last three days the pc has become slower and slower, today when i checked 'system information' i found that windows was recognising the 2GB physical memory …

Okay, so I'm working on this system for a friend of the family. There were ALOT of things wrong with this... but that's besides the point. Basically, I'm trying to figure out why it's running so slow. I've completely disassebled everything in the system, cleaned, dusted, reapplied thermal compound to every heat sink, etc... and completely wiped the hard drive to get ready for a clean install of 7. BUT... when I boot from the installation media (either through DVD or USB), it takes WAY longer than I've ever seen ANY system to even boot into the install screen. It's …

As the title says, my motherboard won't boot up but randomly boots up by itself! Now a detailed explanation. Firstly my motherboard is [Asus P5GC-MX/1333](http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/P5GCMX1333/). When I first got it, I had a 20-Pin PSU of 300W and I've used it for about 2 weeks. Then one day, when I came home I wanted to use my PC as always but this time it wouldn't boot up! I didn't know what to do, I opened my CPU and started staring at it, hoping to find a solution when suddenly, the motherboard boots up all by itself! It didn't load the …

Hi all, I'm having an "assignment" in which one criterion is : - Inserting data into an ordered sequential file without reading the entire file into RAM I don't know how to this. Could you show me how to write methods/API/code in Java, anything is fine with me. Just to add some details, the files are created using RandomAccessFile, for example: cD = new RandomAccessFile("customer.txt","rw"); However, by inititalizing cD, I'm actually reading the entire file. So may be someone can show me how to access arbitary files without the need to actually read the entire file Tks a lot :)
