I noticed when I was setting my profile that the control for selecting my year of birth only goes back to '81. Would you know why?

Because of the weird date picker we use. You have to select '81 in the dropdown, and then the dropdown will repopulate going back another 20+ years.

Aside from that, you can manually type in a year into the text box instead of selecting it from the dropdown.
