Mrfix my it guy dropped dead recently, i'm 65 years old, have 4 different computers, one will not boot up, not in safe mode or any mode, as soon as it goes to load up windows it shuts down.
I have the original xp professional cd, but don't know how to
load it, maybe my hard drive has had it, i don't know.

Welcome. To boot from the CD you need to tell your computer to look there before trying to boot from the hard drive. It varies between manufacturers, but generally you go into the BIOS Setup menu by hitting F1, F11, Del or something when the PC first powers on. In there should be a menu to change the boot order. Make sure that CDROM is before hard disk drive, and then when you restart, it should attempt to boot from the windows CD.
