Wired Magazine reports this month on Männerspielplatz, a playground of sorts that's designed specifically with men in mind. Located in Germany, guys come to try their hand at things many have only dreamed of: riding dirtbikes through mud, driving a backhoe, or operating jackhammers on mounds of concrete.

Wired author Andrew Curry says, "The brainchild of Alexander Bammer, a former IT honcho, Männerspielplatz (literally 'men's playground') began seven years ago as a one-off corporate promotion with a handful of rented earthmovers at a construction site near Kassel in central Germany. The event struck a chord with pasty execs who loved getting in touch with their inner ditchdigger. "

While the amusement park itself is located on a 17-acre swatch of land near Kassel, the company's Web site offers smaller version of many of the experiences in several different regions throughout Germany.

If you've always wanted to stand on the skid of a helicopter and "monitor enemy lines" with your own personal military team, now you can. Just gather up a group of friends, and book a fly-around. What about experiencing what it's like to be in a U-boat in the Baltic Sea? Yep, you can do that, too. About the only thing that looks like it's missing is a tanker truck so guys have the opportunity to be a Fireman for the Day.

Since Brammer has a background in IT, I'm surprised he hasn't found a way to incorporate that into the experiences. Bulldozers that lift cases of Red Bull energy drinks, or sledgehammers that you can use to annihilate racks of servers perhaps? The possibilities are endless.
